Do plants age more quickly in low lighting?

Hey do plants go through the flowering cycle more quickly if they are under less lighting? We had to pull one plant (northern lights) because it showed a couple pollen sacks. Those were removed and then the plant went into a separate tent. That tent is mainly being used for vegging. The new tent is 108 watts of LED cree bulbs.

The plant is getting 12/12 and all the same nutrients the rest of the crop are getting. However the 600w HPS tent plant are expectedly larger. But they have white pistils whereas the LED tent ratio is approaching 50% red hairs.

Anyone have any info/thoughts on this?

No, lower light won't make the plant age faster or, what I think you mean to ask, mature earlier. Odds are the buds have been pollinated.

I ran a northern lights last run, Hermied like crazy. Chopped early and made medibles. Hermied seeds are not desirable for future grows, but that's just me.

We are definitely looking into extracts for this one. As far as we can tell, the Northern Lights hermied on only a couple branches. We chopped all the pollen we could find and now it's isolated for the remainder of the flower cycle.

When it comes to next grow we already have new seeds lined up for purchase. Probably will do that some time in November as we can't start the seedlings until the veg tent is free. So much for a perpetual harvest. Grow and learn and repeat.

How did the medibles turn out considering you chopped early?

Yeah the reason you're seeing those buds "mature" faster is they're pollinated. My testing with clones in low lighting conditions have shown that the plants will take longer to mature, not shorter, yields didn't suffer much, but it added 6-8 days to the finish times. Although you can use those seeds, they'll more than likely hermie as well, I wouldn't get too excited :(

We're excited for the ability to try out various methods of extraction / concentrate production. Certainly will not be investing our time and energy into the seeds from this hermie. Though we will look for places to plant these or give away to outdoor growers for the next season. With full disclosure on the seed lineage and possible issues.
