How and where is the condensor heat exhausting/convecting out, and consider inside where the fan is moving air from the room through the unit recirculating. many are not sealed tight construction wise inside. Many are.
I've used many cheapass window units and had much smell leak problems to the outside from several.
well i agree a " cheap ass unit " will give you all kinds of problems air leaks included .... most people wont call someone out to install service ports and recharge a system for a $100 unit so honestly havent had many ..... my window unit and the ones i have repaired have been way out of the cheap ass price range so you are correct but like i said ive never seen one designed to blow inside air outside

anything cheap is going to give you problems
filter is the primary defense shouldnt matter if the ac is leaking air

If you cannot use any window for ducting how can you run the AC with all the heat it will produce.
How will you exhaust tent hot air? where to?

he has a mobile ac unit with the exhaust that does blow inside air outside so he needs to get on his filter game

Most homedepot window ac units for example, are cheapass units, even 450$ units. cheap i meant as in construction, not necessarily price.

None are 'designed' to blow inside air outside, they just do. lol because they're cheapass, most of them.

ive always had my filter in check and a standbye filter and fan so i guess ive never encountered a problem due to the fact ive always had odor control as my number one priority

Now I use homemade cold water heat exchanger, no heat to exhaust, no windows, hardly any electric, uses tons of cold tap water though(no chiller/reciculating tank/coil, chiller too much $ in electric, water bill is cheaper)

For years I would build custom sealed 'envelope' around window ac rear heat section and exhaust heat out the back through ducting up n out the roof, and run the unit inside no windows. This was my way, before water ac, and only because, of the smell leaks through back of window ac to the outside.

Sorry so much window ac talk is getting outta hand taking up too much thread space. I'm done.
lol

..but I still don't understand without any exhaust to outside, how will he use portable ac unit at all?
and what about tent grow space heat exhaust? just gonna reciculate inside the apt like a sauna?

Well my AC is ducted to the sliding door, and my tent door is wide open with no filter at the moment.
I can't speak for how much it's worth, it was a gift....it's a barda 8,000BTU portable AC/Dehumidifier

I also can't speak for any other appartment within the building, there are no bedrooms like mine, 1-2 bedrooms as well so it could be, there is AC in the hallways of some kind of blowing air that seems cool in the hot summers
