Does anyone know a good alternative to aerogarden sponges?

Buy cocofiber liner and cut. Its like a big circle of cocofiber in the garden section at walmart or homedeport for $5

It seems wasteful to buy Master Gardener kits just to use the sponges.
I haven't received sponges from them in a long time. They told me they weren't using them anymore. In fact I liked them. The last couple times they've sent me pressed grow pods made out of coconut. They've worked well for me so I can't complain.
I read about using women's hair curling sponges and I tried them but I didn't have any luck. Please keep us posted on what you try and how well it works.

I use Rapid Rooters in my aerogarden.
How do you do that? I like them but they're considerably bigger than the A/G sponges or planting inserts. I know if you get the smallest rock wool cubes you can wet them down and roll them small enough to put in the planting deck but not in the plastic planting cages.
