Ben Carson: The Khans Should Apologize to Donald Trump
The surrogate illustrates the difficulty of campaigning for the Republican nominee without publicly disgracing oneself.

Carson's premise is that the Mr. Khan said Trump never read the constitution and so should apologize for his transgression. In fact Khan asked a rhetorical question “Let me ask you: Have you even read the United States Constitution?” But I'm going too far down into the weeds. Why the fuck can't Trump just end his suicidal attack on a Gold Star family by not saying any more about it? More than likely, Khan who has no political experience will eventually say something that makes him look foolish and then people will forget all about it. But no, Trump the man-baby continues to dish it out and cries loudly over any slight whatsoever. Also like a baby he over reacts and blows the whole thing out of proportion.

Toward the end, the author summarizes:
It’s hard to watch the interview without thinking less of Ben Carson than before. To spin for Donald Trump—one of the most prolific practitioners of demonization in the United States—Carson doesn’t just forswear the position he would hold in other circumstances, blatantly lie about what the Khans said in their speech, and suggest they owe Trump an apology. He goes on to argue that if they don’t recognize their supposed error, they’ll make it easier for the folks who killed their son to win.
