** UPDATE **

While I was out looking at that ECSD and puzzling over just why it has started to herm (Ran this before with no problems). I sat down and did something I haven't done in awhile.
I simply did the first ripe (pretty dern close anyway) harvesting of the ECSD, right there in the grow room. After a cpl of hrs, I thought. WTF? It's getting rather chilly in here for lights on!

I look at the wall thermostat....61???

So investigation starts.....Find that a back up AC (main is run through a greenhouse thermo switch) was running full out! This should NOT be going on, as she's set for 2 deg higher then the GH switch...

Then I notice that the overly long heat exhaust line I had just replaced and meant to shorten and put into it's proper track to the vent. Had slipped from where it was hung and came to rest across the rear intake to the AC unit......OMFG! The damn thing had been taking in heated air till it tripped the internal thermo and began to run. It was not cooling this exhaust air enough to stop it from perpetually running this back up AC unit..

I had inadvertently made the AC cool the room to night time or lower temps for the last 5-7 maybe even 8 days! Just the perfect amount of time for the plants to go into "OH SHIT, MAKE BABY'S" stress mode. And show me it was doing it!

I thought I had hung the line ok, not! It fell, I have been busy and didn't notice...... I meant to shorten the line and hang it properly. I didn't, I got lazy and let it go because it "was ok and I can get to it later. I got it put up out of the way good enough."

NOPE!
Epic fail! This explains the early yellow showing on the Shiatsu and could be part or all of the temperamental Ghost's being more of a bitch then ever before!

It goes to show that even old hands make stupid mistakes!

Never leave something half finished in your grow!

Gotta run.
PEACE
I did the same with a cooltube. Came home and temps were in the 90s, lesson learned.

Sux that it happened but thanks for pointing out that keeping an eye on everything isn't just good practice for nOObs but should be SOP for all.

Ok, day late but not short on the dollar..

Week 6 and she's bulking alright. Shiatsu... Not the most impressed with the strain so far...But still gotta smoke it from this plant....I think the soil was a bit more then she liked, P&K wise..
I'll run it again but, when I do, It'll be in a lighter bloom soil.

Here's the Iraqi Hash plant....she looks so pretty. Pics don't do her justice !

Still owe you that taste test of the bitch Shiatsu......sorry, been hectic around here.....I'll get there.

Doc

Hey doc, nice work! Looks like a candy store. I was hoping you could point me to some good reads on living soil mixes and how to amend properly as that is the route i would like to go. I have read a bit of your history over the past couple days and you certainly got your shit in a pile. I find what you did with that gg with changing up your amendments fuckin eh! That's a talent i would like. Tastier treats going that way too! I thought you said somewhere you are not a fan of neem meal in your mix, i use that as a spray for mites and thought that of a meal mix i tried and failed miserably haha. Why don't you use it?

I don't care for Neem meal in my soils because, Neem has an anti bacterial/fungal property. I want as much living bio activity in my soil as I can!

I always point new water only folks to this (I'll give you another one too.)

https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/easy-organic-soil-mix-for-beginners.1116550/

These guys have a lot of good stuff and good info. Look over the whole site slowly and carefully.

https://buildasoil.com/

I made buildasoils mite spray with aloe, neem, potassium silicate and i added a bit of lavender. They sure don't like the taste haha. I find it works best with a fogger otherwise can get a bit of burning. It emulsify's pretty good but not 100%. Thanks for the pointing me in a direction, i appreciate it.

I think i also have to lighten my hand when it comes to watering soil.
Have you ever tried a wicking set up since you don't have to push salts through. That would be awesome as you could set tables up on floats and have them keep an even moisture content. I'm starting to do some experiments with ropes and i see in the greater greenhouse biz they use wicking mats. Be nice to go away for a week without failure

OK, OK, I'm late (as usual)..

Cpl of us long time growers where talking about it's early blooming. One of us just sat and listened. He turned and asked me if I had topped it right before I saw the "bloom" start.
"Yes"
It was under 18/6?
"Yes"
It was still a bit stressed for some reason. The topping was a FIM?
"Yes"
It freaked the plant and it did the "emergency" bloom thing. I've seen that in a strain myself some years back. I breed it and it was close to the same parents as the Shiatsu. The plant you showed us has those same thin serrated sativa looking leaves as mine did.
The budding started, went so far and like "stopped" right?
"Yes"
It started back real quick when you stuck her in the bloom room?
"Yup"
That's it D. It freaked the plant into a stress reaction bloom. The strain will do that......Don't fuck with your Highland Thai's much when you run them, do you?
"Nope"
Same thing applies.....

So I'll add a shot of that later. In a rush, gotta run for a bit.

Shiatsu - getting there, same for the Iraqi Hash's.View attachment 4025147

Here's the starter ECSD's - the tall one will be super cropped today. I'll add a pic of that and how I did it. In front of them is an original blueberry. Cloned for over 30 years.

I will be interested to know what you find after running more of the shiatsu as to what caused contributed to the early flower.

My situation going through and answering your buddy's questions basically the same, except I ripped 1/2 the root ball off when transplanting instead of damage by FIM.

This has happened to me twice with different strains , also I did not see as Much flower growth or budsite development as you show.

Would your buddy suggest that greater than 18 hrs light would prevent or assist in any way?

I wouldn't say that 18+ would make any difference. That's 44 years of growing cannabis talking....

I have workers that care for my place when away.

I would most likely pick Blumats watering systems for going away if not.

SHIATSU SMOKE REPORT!

The little early self induced bloomer.

This is interesting weed. While this little plant self induced a stress bloom. It has some interesting growth patterns, still like her big sister in some ways.
She had some pretty good bud structure for her size. It turned out not so dense but, that should be expected for what she did as far as starting bloom, while trying to be forced back to veg.
Then allowed to bloom.

You can see here the less then dense bud structure.
20171223_081755.jpg

A fine lime green coloring with a sweet, spicy, yet evergreen like smell. Hard to place as I'm not getting a pine like smell. More Hemlock or Cedar like.
Trichome structure on this little bitch seemed kind light and small heads, reflecting her Sativa side.
20171223_081821.jpg

Intake method:
Bong. 18inch, single hits. I took 4 rips and the wife did 3. First 2 were right after the other and the next 2 were spaced about 15 min apart.

Might up-date this with a Joint test report later.

The hit:
Well, kinda sweet and a bit of spicy Cedar to it. Not exactly flavorful. I do expect the sister to be more so. Yet not a whole lot. She seems to be a subdued odor plant while growing, and it's being reflected in the hit. NICE though! The cure was spot on. Smooth and silky, with no heat or raspy throat effect. Burn was solid and even.....Jar RH is held to 58%.

Effects: Almost instant and deep muscle relaxation. Pain melts away almost as quickly (and that's from a guy with arthritis that is deep into his spine, and the common places too)!
The wife reported that her stress (Mass media ad sales executive) was just "deleted" from her mind as she smoked her second rip.

The buzz was clean and happy. No paranoia. Not overpowering or confusing. Focused and relaxed with a nice Indica influence, without being couchlocked or lulled to sleep. Both of us really liked that! Has the old school "Still have a bit of a buzz the next mourning" thing in it too. Medical properties are long lasting as I got up and haven't done any pain relief hits yet, still feel nicely relaxed.

For sure not the BIG hit potency of some of my big $ strains I get in Reg. bean form. Higher end of the middler strain for buzz, with serious kudo's for the staying power of the effects!

But I will say! "This, is, a top shelf medical strain!"

I have now been ordered by my wife to run this for her, and I have to say I really like it for the potential early mourning pain relief - without serious mind numbing stone that some good medicals do have!

You want to relax and relieve pain but, be mentally/physically functioning. With long lasting effects?

Give this strain a try!

Stoners? Very good party at the club buzz!

Whats left for this journal?

The big sister and smoke reports for the things ran along at the same time.......See yah next week!
