DrCannaP's Organic Fruit Garden

Alright alright ladies and gents. Took long enough but my DIY rig is finally hung (1st shot of only the diy rig fired up and the 4000k not hung back up yet).
I managed to drop my 4000k COBs led on my plants as I was clearing the way to hang my diy rig, and that broke a branch off of the PE (last shot with the broken branch as mulch on top the soil). But its all good. I fixed that LED fixture and got back to work. Everything is done and both lights are hung right now with my QBs at 80% and everything else at 100% including the 350w 4000K COBs LED (for a total of about 850-900w) .... the groom is very bright and the lights are hung up about 36 inches from the tallest plant and the light distribution and intensity are amazing to say the least. Will see how the girls like their new artificial sun
I did some training after i took the shots. Also its definately brighter and whiter in the groom (compared to what ya see in the pictures) now that the 4000k rig is also added. I sprayed them with my essential oils mix after I finished.

Hey hey hey everyone ... I thought Id let you know how the different light spectrums are mixed
At 6:00pm, the far reds (720-740nm) fire up and then at 6:16, the deep (or photo) reds (660nm), the QB (3000k) and the IRs start rampin up for 30 min until they reach their max set intensity at 6:45pm. At 7:00pm the 4000k whites fire up at max intensity. And now all the lights are fired and mixed.
At 5:00am the 4000k light will switch off (its sunset time for the next hour). At 5:30am now all other lights strat ramping down for 30 minutes til they turn off at 6:00am (except for the far reds which will start rampin down at 5:45 and turn off at 6:15am with 15 additional minutes of only far reds on).
Why:
Adding more deep (photo) red and far reds is for the Emerson effect where photisynthesis is increased when plants are exposed to both spectrums!
Adding the 4000k is for more blue especially for the first period of flowering when the girls stretch a lot and the blue spectrum helpsbreduce that stretch (not to forget having a close range of temp between lights off and on)
The Far reds being on alone for 15 minutes after the lights are out is to trigger an immediate night cycle in the plants rather than waiting for a couple of hours for the girls to go to sleep (when they dont get that spectrum alone after lights are out)

Ohwow, that is truly ornate, amazing what you've got going there!
Makes me think of @RM3, who I think is also looking into making his lighting more varied, in emulation of nature outdoor!

Thanks yo ... im sure hes also doin that ... many are trying to replicate nature following growmau5 footsteps on youtube hehehe ... i did this trying to replicate his quantum canopy not even close to his lol but it does the job i hope savibg me shit loads of $ in the long run .... again, I hope lol

ooo sounds like I need to wake up, I've been in CXB3590 dreamland this past year and haven't been following developments it seems!
This grow is getting more and more fun to watch - I'm sure they're going to love those lights haha

Heheh im not too far ahead of cxb3590 infact i thought about putting it on for the 4000k circuit lol ... will see ... but omg theyre already loving the light I can tell ... ill update in a sec

Weekly update (day 7 of flowering):
2 days after the light was hung and I can definitely tell the difference!! Despite the accident with the cobs led light falling on them, the girls look more vibrant! Cover crop seemed to grow quicker through the mulch with this light lol I had to do some clipping then I sprayed them with the essential oils mix (including neem). The freakin auto looks like it tried to reveg ... anyway shes under 12/12 now.

Ah man ive had my fair share of action in the past couple runs and this one. Havent been keeping up good enough with the no till soil and im learing the hard way and trying to play catch up ... but good to see ya man hope all is well and what have you been up to man? Late update (day 16 of flowering):
Been away on a business trip and missed the weekly update on sat.
So I checked on the girls today and theyre flowering already. The stretch is minimal and PE2 mystery and also SD a little are lookin pale.
To tablespoons of 3-8-8 bulb food by foxfarm and one of 3-4-6 tomatoe tone by espoma and 1 tablespoon kelp went in all 3 older pots and one of each ontop the auto.
Watered in. My IPM sprayed.
I plan on removing the mulch, applying a fresh layer of compost and ewc then lay the mulch on top and water.

Quick update (day 19 of flowering):
The progressive yellowing is likly due to the already consumed soil plus straw mulch that probably tied up the N in the soil?
Nonetheless, i removed the mulch layer, top sressed with a tablespoon of neem powder and another of (malted barley + sprouted mung beans) flour, then a layer of EWC, then sprinkled a tablespoon of (malted barley + sprouted mung beans) flour again then a layer of my fresh home made compost then put the mulch back on. I then watered all that in with AACT and sprayed my IPM essential oils

hmm @ yellowings... but you did topdress N-heavy stuff along with the EWC and compost you added at the same time as the straw, didn't you? So actually you were already countering the C-heaviness of the straw.. still not enough then?!
Hmm hmm, lots of thoughts and questions racing through my mind, nothing conclusive so I won't drive you crazy too with them ... for now

And, did you defoliate the PE or did she lose that many leaves to the yellowing - or are my eyes just tricking me?

Hey hey calli ... youre right so i guess they needed more .. as far as the poor PE suffered alot ... first i split her mainline in half and had to fix it ... then my old LED light fell on her and broke a big branch ... she had to recover from that too .. and shes skinny like that to start with lol ... did loose a few leaves tgat ended on top as well ... im brewing some EWC and compost tea and added a sick with half a cup of alfalfa meal and kelp and another of a half cup of bunny poop and letting this brew for like 30 hours and gonna water them with it
I need to feed that fat ass worm some cucumber and banana skins for the k

Hey hey hey weekly update (end of 3 weeks since the flip. Day 21 of flowering):
30 hours ago, I started brewing a nutrient tea as indicated in the post before this. The girls got watered with it then sprayed with my essential oils IPM mix.

haha! I just noticed how the lowryder, for all its puny 3-leafiness, is quietly becoming a dense thicket of flowers
As for the PE, the angle of the last pic may also have contributed to my impression Though I do think her fan leaves have grown out a bit in these past days? But yeah, she's doing great, considering all that battering!

The tea sure looks yummy, hoping your plants think so too!!

Thanks Calli ... i agree and I noticed how once I flipped the lights to 12/12 (and although shes supposed to be an auto) she started to flower much better. Shes lookin like the cutest and snallest xmas tree heheh almost there hah i guess she was confused about her heritage and had identity crisis lol ... am i auto or photo lmao
Im really hoping the girls enjoy the tea and react well to it. I plan on keepin this up with all kinds of bloom teas every week or so til i see them take off independently

Actually, it's really interesting though - everyone always warning against letting the autos bloom on short light cycles, saying it will reduce yields.. But yeah, maybe she's just super special!
And she'd make a lovely motif for a Christmas card!!

Hey hey hey quick update on IPM spray day:
As ya can tell from the pics, the girls are gaining color. Also, I could smell them outside the groom now and thats why I hooked up the carbon scrubber to the extraction fan.
I also lowered the light a bit because theyre done stretching
Btw I defoliated the yellow leaves ya see in the shots below.
