Im running 2x600w sunmaster 7200k mh bulbs currently in early flower. At the end of the 2nd week of flower im looking to switch over to hps for a few weeks.

But some people are saying Dual spectrum hps bulbs are better than just the standard hps. Would love to hear some feedback on this, has anyone used both before and can compare them, which am I better off with?

Also I have another option, to run 1xMH and 1xHPS, would that be a better option for mixed spectrum? Ive seen a lot of conflicting info on which is best to use, some say MH in flower gives you smaller, but denser/more potent buds that pretty much weigh the same as hps grown airier buds, is this actually proven?

for flowering id say stick with the full HPS as it will concentrate more on the lower colour temps which is better for flowering. 2 hps will probably do better in probably

Yeah straight HPS probably better for flower but to be honest I use a 400w duel spectrum all way through (recently switched to this) I noticed a lower heat output and seems to be doing better but it is I'm Veg so will have to see how it goes!

its funny coz a 400 watt dual spectrum grolux hps bulb puts out 58000 lumens whereas its 55000 from a normal hps bulb.
but a 600 watt dual spectrum bulb puts out 90000 lumens, but a 600 watt hps bulb puts out 95000 lumens.but in saying that, cannabis plants seem to prefer dual spectrum lights during flower.

Like I say seems to work well and I noticed the higher lumen output. I think with duel spec lighting its good to give the girls a bit of everything all the time. And saves price of 2 bulbs... I think would you really notice a diff using mh then HPS or just a duel spec all way through... My head says no... But I havent got the patience to run an experiment lol

hmmm so the dual spec bulbs might be the way to go, you only lose 5k lumens but gain some blue spectrum. Im also gonna flip back to MH for the last 1-2 weeks, ive heard it can increase resin production, time will tell :)
Has anyone done a side by side test of hps,mh,dual spec?
Thanks for the replies.

Not to burst your bubble, but this forum is for alternative lighting.. LED, Inductions, plasma etc. I would suggest for everyone's sake, to post HPS questions in the grow room setup forum. :)

Cool, I think I'm gonna try pick up x dual specs soon, the mh's definitly helped keep the stretch down a bit in flower.

dual spectrum should work best for autoflowering strains because they need both light spectrums for development of bud and also stems and leaves for the first month of flowering
