ok so dwc or bubble pots as i understand is just a tub of water/feed and a air pump??? im a rite???

if so i plan on making my self one but got a few questions
1. wot medium do i initially root into? and how/where is this supported?
2. does size/ shape of tub matter? - guessing needs to be a decent size, but can it be flat and wide or long and thin?
3. feed schedules?
4. pump times?
any other info would be appreciated

1. root in rockwool, when rooted transplant to a netpot with hydroton or something similar.

2. the wider the netpot the more stable IMO 3" or 4" should do

3.change res every week or two start off with 1/4 rec. dosage work your way up slowly to 1/2 strength then to full, this should take a month or more.

4.leave the airpump on all the time, if you are using a water pump tp for drip or something leave it on all the time too.

Good Luck

also when I say work up to full strength I mean the plants full strength not what the bottle says.

For containers...hmmm. I use a five gallon paint bucket not sure how low it is they make totes, the Rubbermaid deals. Only one mom per DWC too, they get big quick. Netpots I buy, they sell them at hydroshops they are cheap .25cents in the US. The container is anything that you find to get the job done, as long as it holds water and the roots are in the water you are good. I'll take a pic for you...five minutes please.

EDIT:
sorry also the contaner should not let light in

heres some of my containers, once again only one site per container for moms..my tote has three in it but they are clones, I move them. Oh and a netpot if you didn't already know what it was, sits a top the tote.

Hey Gygax, great lookin plants. I'll prob. post about this but... how far apart would you say you can put the pots in the Rubbermaid tub?

I was thinking about 4 is the max w/ a med. tub size. But anyway how far apart should you put them, as they do bush out, but can be trained. Also an off set pattern of 4 I was thinking... Thanks!

On a post-jacking note I figure it would be good info for you as well. :peace: :joint:

Space them out as far as you can, I wouldn't put more than 2 in my 10 gallon tote..pictured. I have three in there but they are clones and they get moved to buckets when I deem them worthy..lol. Two in a 10 gallon tote max, those six site Stealth Hydro totes are useless no way to get 6 plants in there. I gues if you are training them maybe 3 in 10 gallons but no more unless you want a mess and no weed in the end.

When you say medium size how many gallons? Those totes are 10 gallons, also how long do you plan on vegging?

for pics Gygax1974 when u take the clones out of the small tank are the roots tangled? or are they easily removed?
also do u think u could transplant them into a nft set up?

if you take them out early enough they will not be tangled if you wait to long you are going to have some problems. Yes you can transplant to NFT or any other medium pretty much. I transplant to 5 gallon single site buckets for moms, and all others go into my special little rail system I built recently, it's like DWC/NFT sorta, with some mister action..

30 gallon tote question...I have no idea really never tried so I don't want to say, also depends on veg time..if you are vegging for a while say a month I would just do the paint buckets with one in each. Also if you grow from seed what happens if you have six plants in there and 2 turn male, roots are tangled, what do you do? I highly recommend single site DWC buckets unless you are doing SOG with short veg period.

get a 5 gallon paint bucket at home depot, get a net pot and some rockwool and hydroton. Take the lid and cut a hole the size of the netpot, get an airstone and an airpump, put the airstone in the water and you're done. It's basically a bucket of water/nutes with an airstone in it.
