I spoon feed you kids with graphs, charts and facts and you still act like a bunch of giggling school girls by deflecting my points. Don't go around accusing others that which you're guilty of. You can't have it both ways.
UB, I am pretty sure I am older than you.

You have a great deal of knowledge to share. I appreciate all you do care to share, and the knowledge you have passed on. As a collective, and as a bunch of people just wanting to learn from one and each other, can't we just all get along?

Like these merry fellows? Can we not just get the Fuck Along?

can't we all just get along.jpg

You havin' a rough start in 2014?

Take a deep breath and chill a moment. Yeah all my 9 acres of grapes are getting seriously fucked right now as well.

You are a voice of science and reason around here but when you get pissed off and lash out you lose credibility. Don't do that, you are one of the few that actually know what they are typing about.

Anyway.... Happy New Year everyone.

Since we're on the topic...I know there's a meter you can use to measure how much light you're actually getting to your canopy. What readings am I looking for and anyone know of a decent brand/model?

Well the "topic" was Dyna-Gro fertilizer started in January in the Year of Our Lord 2012.

"Since we're on the topic" - I do not think that is the case here Sparky. Yer asking light meter questions, and the Topic is Dyna-Gro

I doubt that.

Since we're all off topic, what happened to your vines?

Pissed? If I had a paddle I'd take these young whipper snappers.....

Light meters - got a new GE 217 off ebay. It's an oldie but a goodie.

I know. I've followed this thread for a while. However, there were a couple posts on lights and spectrum. That made me think of the meters I read about before so I asked. In fact the original poster homebrewer frequently
Gives plenty of advice on DG not only here but on a private forum many of us are members of. Normally over there people answer questions and discuss topics without rude pointless comments like your own. Threads often drift and its a good thing in general as long as it eventually drifts back.

Anyways, UB what reading range do you aim for.

BTW DG is still underated as fuck. Happy AA?

You know maybe I took your post too seriously. My apologies Aim.
No reason to apologize. I'm using DG myself. I try not to make "rude pointless comments" as you said but I guess it comes across that way sometimes. I just like to try to interject a bit of humor at times, but it seems like I am not very good at it.

You doubt my age? I was born in 1956.

My vines are my own problem as I got a bit ambitious and planted Gewürztraminer a few years ago. I'm right at or below the temps for the Big G, and hope I am OK but I do not like what I saw this morning. -7f and shatter

Speaking of avoiding and deflecting, whew! You don't have the balls to admit when I'm right. I spoon feed you kids with graphs, charts and facts and you still act like a bunch of giggling school girls by deflecting my points. Don't go around accusing others that which you're guilty of. You can't have it both ways.
you bring up "supposed" conversations you had with lighting people 30 years ago and a graph that is 20+ years old. you do realize there have been advancements in bulb technology. i bet you still use incandescents in your house. i shot you a more recent chart and you call it bullshit and then try and claim that both lights are full spectrum. that's about the dumbest thing i've every heard.

Uhhhh, I'm not the one claiming to be building a $300,000 forced air chilled grow room in what any clear headed individual would consider premium land and clime for growing cannabis naturally. Now THAT'S stupid.
where do you keep getting this $300,000 number from? a little logic would tell you that isn't even close. I already have the bulk of the grow equipment.

$5900 - Chiller
$2700 - 2 Air Handlers
$1000 - Thermostats, Humidistats, Tubing, Insulation
$1500 - Electrical
$1000 - Shipping
$5000 - Shed Construction Materials
$1500 - Grow Materials

$18,600 - NOT EVEN CLOSE TO $300,000

are you going to tell me how to spend my money next? i think buying dynagro when you supposedly own a nursery and have pallets of salts is stupid. but i could care less cause i doubt you even have more than 4 plants on your whole property.

It's about another childish gangbang wraught with juvenile misrepresentation.

It may be a gangbang, only due to your continued namecalling. Like someone else just said.... you lashing out detracts from your message.
I am seriously only looking for more proof from you backing up your claims.

Bullshit, it's about you not agreeing with my no bullshit style. If you wish to discuss the message, what you don't agree with, and IF I find your claim deserves a response, then we'll kick the can down the road.

WTF EVER DOOOD ! I too try to keep things as simple as I can...Truly I do. I am indoors tho so obviously things are a bit more complicated than your outdoor grow. My only goal here is to be as efficient as possible......that is it!

.

How did that search on photomorphogenesis work out fer ya?

Actually..... I read several pages on the subject. I will admit they were interesting reads. None of which backed your point up though in fact, quite the opposite.

[h=2]Blue light systems[edit][/h]As for the red/far-red system, plants contain multiple blue light photoreceptors which have different functions.
Based on studies with action spectra, mutants and molecular analyses, it has been determined that higher plants contain at least 4, and probably 5, different blue light photoreceptors.
Cryptochromes were the first blue light receptors to be isolated and characterized from any organism. The proteins use a flavin as a chromophore. The cryptochromes have evolved from microbial DNA-photolyase, an enzyme that carries out light-dependent repair of UV damaged DNA.
Two cryptochromes have been identified in plants.
Cryptochromes control stem elongation, leaf expansion, circadian rhythms and flowering time.

this here ^^is exactly what I am talking about thank you for that

Just because you say it doesn't mean it's so. There are thousands that obviously disagree with you. Case in point, try this (embarrassing) post from yesterday:

It's not "just because I say it" It's a commonly accepted fact among indoor growers. Obviously it's been awhile since you've played indoors eh?

and I find nothing embarrassing about that post at all. How many times do I have to say it? I TOO HAVE RESPECT FOR YOU! The fact that I haven't devolved into your level of heckling kinda proves this.

https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/150004-plant-moisture-stress-symptoms-solutions-100.html

That's what you call courtesy and respect. In turn, he will get the same from me.

If you think I am gonna kiss your ass you're even more delusional than I previously thought. I agree with almost every one of your techniques and practices....except this one. That in itself IS respect.....

1. It's not a "tenet". It's a forum paradigm which I busted (post #884) and you can't handle it, cause you don't have the strength and courage to leave your RIU comfort zone and your cubbies Mal and the dog. Just because you say: "Yep, I use mh for the first 4 wks." doesn't make it worth its while. Now, if it makes you feel good, go head on!
You have busted nothing. My god.

just because you call it a placebo effect doesn't make it worth it's while.

see how this works?

2. You deserve the barbs. Keep up the passive-aggressive drills and misrepresentations and more will be coming.
I have misrepresented NOTHING! LOL
Keep with the barbs and i'll keep comparing you to finshaggy see how that works too? He too posts nonsense without backing it up...and he's from texas.....but I won't go there this time
3. Beginning with post #859 read my posts which included graphical details regarding spectral analysis....or you just too stupid or hard headed to acknowledge the fact that MH contains plenty of the R and FR spectrum and HPS contains plenty of the blue spectrum to grow plants from start to finish. AGAIN, shit-fer-brains, my avatar was grown from start to finish with HPS. The cola was a rock solid 6" wide cola fat enough to hide my face with many ounces of smaller colas lower where the light don't shine. Of course like the other really smart tenets that you tards hold so dear, everyone KNOWS the buds at the bottom of the plant need light, right?

Ok, so I reread the thread....I thought maybe I missed something. I did not. The graphical details regarding spectral analysis was easily refuted by scooby's graph. SOoo, that proves nothing, and since hortilux is and has been the industry standard for years and we don't even know where your graph came from.....Do I really have to point the obvious out here?

The pages you posted were illegible..meaning blurry, and I can't read them. Have a link I can follow? I'd love to check it out.

again.... I never said you couldn't grow under either bulb. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! Try to deflect the main point again why dontcha??

You are trying to make it sound like I said you CAN'T grow under hps alone..... I never fucking said that....

a shit fer brains would go nicely here but i'll be civil.

and as I stated several times but i'll reiterate for the elderly. Or for the people who need to read things 4 or 5 times. That ONE plant in your avi has some heulla nice buds on it...yes it does.(feel better?) What exactly does that prove? Oh yea, that you CAN grow from start to finish under hps.... I never said you couldn't....wow!

I also never said that either bulb didn't have the right spectrums for growing either...don't really know where you are getting this from. Other than try to confuse other readers who haven't followed this closely.

I only ever said that mh helps control stretch. WHich is the consensus among most of the indoor growing community....and has been for decades.

The onus is on you to prove otherwise. Really it is. If you wanna refute common growing practices you really should back it up....

that is all.

Sorry if you can't figure that out.

My sig line was installed for folks like you, it's a perfect fit - It ain't ignorance that causes so much trouble; it's folks knowing so much that ain't so.

did you write that one about yourself? Because you seem to know so much that ain't so in this case.
Now, run along, go play with the other cub scouts.....they need your support. ;)
Hey man, that's ok, I like playing. I'll send you some depends as I hear incontinence is a problem with the elderly. See, I can insult too :)

does it do any good???? Does it make you feel better?
Uncle Ben

P.S. - Oh, and quit acting like the fate of the western world depends on you saving others from my bad advice, ya drama queen. It's melodramatic, shallow and transparent.
really not looking for any drama here. Just some proof from you...which you have failed to provide.....again.

I figured with a post as long as that one you might throw some more evidence in there. I guess it must be hard to come by.

and calling me "shit fer brains" in every other paragraph does little for your cred. It really only proves that you have no argument.

but by all means....show us all how an immature 50+ year old can be

Different? What's your point? It's the same spectral power graphs I posted reflecting they're both full spectrum lamps. I've seen this RIU mentality a million times, usually with every crop of newbs - if 1 tsp. is good then 2 tsp. is better.

It's quite obvious to me they're full spectrum lamps. You made my point for me, thanks. ;)

HPS

MH

what is quite obvious is that one is higher in blues and on is higher in red....Yup, quite obvious.

The unique growth patterns under the respective bulbs is quite obvious too.

NOONE EVER SAID THEY WEREN'T FULL SPECTRUM BULBS! :wall:

Why do you keep bringing that up? Oh, right...to confuse other readers.

deflect deflect deflect.

Well its a chilly 55 outside , just made myself a cocktail n kicked my feet up, ready for another good night of shit talkin. Waitin on my blue og and ultra sour that I put in the rockwool yesterday to pop so I have nothing exciting to do til then. What to do

For starts, if you don't have a meter that registers to 10K, it's useless. Most of the units sold at hydro stores register only to 5K....par for the course with those guys. I aim for around 6,000 f.c. at plant tops.

For an old fart, you're not half bad.

1949 for me...gotcha beat. ;)

-7F ? That's definately an "aw shit" moment. I terribly sorry! Don't do anything hasty as it depends on what the temps were days before and leading up to that hard freeze. If you had a sudden 60F drop from day one to day two, they're probably toast. That's a German (cold) varietal so hoo nose. Am probably preaching to the choir - wait until your normal spring push to prune and make the final assessment as to whether or not to remove any dead vines.

Good luck,
Tio Bendejo

My farm signature drink which I actually named (no, I don't own a nursery, never said I did) is salting the rim of a tall cocktail glass, adding two jiggers of tequila over the rocks, juice of 1/2 Mex key lime, topped off with blood orange soda from France, quick stir, a maraschino cherry floated on top. Try it!

Easy peasy and cheap since I grow blood oranges and key limes in my greenhouse.

Salud, and stay warm!

So Im "a long time DG user" and just now subbed up to this,

My Gro just chunked up on me. Going to buy some new gallons, thought Id contribute to keeping the conversation on track...

-Thought some Foliar Pro in place of my gro, been hearing that a lot- never done it myself. Should I see a flux from my usual ppm's as compared to running gro?

-I have also recently started using the MagPro, so far I have been tossing it in usually at a 3:2 (base:mag) which is also 2ml/gal in 'full veg,' I was curious what others have been doing with this 'booster?'

-Also, I've veered away from using CalMag+ and DG Gro, always found more problems than solutions... thinking tox. BUT, have recently thought may there is something in the chemical structure of the individual Nutrients that is binding between Bot. and DG? Anyone care to speak to this as well, I know Mal. uses CaMg+ as well.

-And chelation with Single Part formula Nutes, is using Ful-Power (fulvic acid)- beneficial.

Lets keep things positive
