Damn...kinda bummed hearing that Yoda. Thanks for posting.
At this point do you think it was brought on by genetics?

Most likely but who knows, my area is pretty stable and i don't see this very often so not sure, but i'm not too upset cause it was late in flower and these smell and look pretty good. I cut off a sample nug last night and trimmed it, pretty dense and very big buds(got a pine/berry smell) so even if it has a few lil nanners here and there i'm not hatin. I got some mango tango and truberry seeds i still want to try, but they are gonna have to wait.

How long into flower were you?
Honey Banana grows tall but fills out nicely, nice frost and very tasty. I'm considering growing it again. 5th element is nice as well.
Did it actually carry any distinct banana flavor or aromas on/off ther plant? Wouldn't happen to have any pics you could share would you?

I'd say the buds smelled more like bananas, the taste was just sweet creamy goodness, with hints of vanilla. I have pics but my computers broke at the moment.

I planted one mango tango freebie and it was a nice frosty plant with a decent yield but very light citrus taste. No og to be found on mine.
My gyo plants kinda sucked too so no surprise they are affiliates of DNA
