End the drug war

The first American cannabis Prohibition ordinance was in El Paso in 1913 (or 1914 - I can't remember). It was another excuse for the powers-that-be at the time to harass Mexicans. At the time, the Mexico was embroiled in a Civil War and great number refugees migrated North during that period.

In the 1930's Harry Anslinger convinced American politicians that "marijuana" would make white women run off with black jazz musicians.

It was very clever because the medical establishment was caught looking as they had never heard of the hermaphroditic-sounding "Mary/Juan-a," but they were very familiar with the medicinal qualities of cannabis hemp.
Yes good old Harry. A friend of mine has vowed to find and piss on his grave. :bigjoint:

Prohibition has always played a part.

Think about it.. back in the day (early 1900's) alcohol was illegal. Eventually.. everyone got together and got a bill passed.. to make it legal. However, there was a catch to it.. it was only legal for people that had a prescription (Rx Card) and a recommendation from their doctor. But, eventually alcohol became legal for EVERYONE.. over the age of 21 years old.

The same thing is happening.. right now.. as I sit here and type this. Only, its not alcohol.. its cannabis. I believe it will happen the same way alcohol became legal.. went from being illegal; to legal for medicinal usage only.. and then it became 100% legal for people 21 years and older.

It's just a matter of when.. not a matter of "if". I truly believe that cannabis will follow the same route that alcohol went.. and eventually will become legal (regulated just like tobacco and alcohol is) for those people that are 18+ or 21+ years of age. I mean.. again.. its already being done in certain states.. and eventually other states will follow the other states.. and before we know it.. it will be 100% legal for people of legal age.

;)

just a matter of when.. no longer a matter of "if".

peace..

What country are you referencing?

In the U.S., alcohol was perfectly legal until 1920 with the ratification of the 18th Amendment.

And it was not medicalized back into legality. No one had any illusions about why people wanted to drink. LOL. Moreover, the 21 year old age limit did not come into prominence until the 1980's. The drinking age was 19 when I was in college, and that was bumped up from 18 when I was in high school.

Jury nullification had more to do with ending Prohibition than anything. The 21st Amendment was ratified 13 years later, thus ending Prohibition.

There is a correlation in that both alcohol and cannabis were legal and then made illegal. But that's about it.

Because we are friends Rob.

On November 14, 1975, at 1 pm, Anslinger died of heart failure at Mercy Hospital (now known as Bon Secours Hospital Campus of the Altoona Regional Health System) in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was 83. He was survived by his son Joseph L. Anslinger and a sister. According to John McWilliams' 1990 book The Protectors, Anslinger's daughter-in-law Bea at that time still lived in Anslinger's home in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.
Anslinger is buried in Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, USA Plot: Sec. C, Lot 320

And I think we all deserve a pic of the big event.

Yep!!
And it is all the whitemans fault right!!!!!
The black kid next to me in class had the same learning chance that i did.
But because he choose not to apply himself and fall back on that old crutch that whitey is keeping his people and family down is a crock of shit.
Same old lame fucking story of passing the buck and blame every one else but who is standing in the mirror.
This is why our country has become a shit hole(along with all the fucking ILLEGAL Immigrants)
I think this is covered but I'd like to add my 2 cents.

I don't think "white" is a race. It's a social class, with privileges. Nobody is really "white", except maybe albinos.

Many people think of Europeans as "white"....I'm not so sure. What about southern Europeans? Greeks? Even for a time Irish were not considered "white". Its a nonsensical term.

How does coming from a place make you "white"?

Why do we measure people by the amount of melatonin in their skin?

I think that there is a lot of confusion between these two terms...Europeans and "whites". Also, can be confused with white supremacy.

I'm not into kinky stuff, so giving his headstone a golden shower might not happen, but my dog may not be as principled as I am. :bigjoint:

Please check out this VERY compelling video of this brave and peaceful woman who has been victimized by the state and likely the federal government. Please forward it to anyone that might benefit from it.

So what are any of you doing to end the war on drugs?

Voting yes means you love america, kittens, and all good things
voting no means your a commie!! Yea, I remember this same emotional arguments that brainwashed millions into going along with whatever our gov't did and said. Use logic, not emotion, emotional arguments normally means you don't have any real good reasons...just sayin...
I'm thinking of removing any initial "emotional" arguments in the OP, sticking to facts, hoping they will speak for themselves. If you or anyone else has any suggestions/edits, please tell me so I can change it.

I'm thinking of pointing out hypocrisy in: human rights and their relation to the drug war, and why some drugs are legal while others are not.
