Ever used Coir Fiber Mulch Rings?

I have been using 11.8" coco fiber tree mulch rings in my five gallon fabric pots with decent success. I have tried straw and coir chips in the past, but the straw breaks down and needs to be replaced more frequently than I like and the coco chips are rather messy to gather up and reuse. So far I like the reusability of the rings and practically no mess removal at the end of a run.

Anyone used these rings long term? If so how many years did you get out of them?

May be a dumb question but do you remove these while watering? I am interested as I’ve been wanting to add a mulch barrier.

You could if you wanted to, they are easy to move about. I however leave them in place out side of topdressing. You can't water full blast out of a garden hose, but as long as you water slowly/gently, water passes through them pretty easily in my experience.

I use a hand pump sprayer with the mister nozzle so I’d imagine it’d run thru. Wasn’t sure if it was more beneficial/efficient one way or the other.

I tried it a few times but it takes sooooooo long and leads to uneven waterings. If I'm remembering correctly the ring I used had a coating over it so the actual coir doesn't take in any moisture.

That makes sense. I mean if you did keep watering over them it seems it would break em down quicker. I think I’ll snag some. Maybe some mesh netting lids as well.
