Expanding....finally.

Hey guys what's up. Hope all is amazing for you guys! Spark one up and help me design a good setup! Been in a 3x3 tent for a while and I've done very well(not a pro but you know what I mean), so it's time to expand. I'll be in a basement and temps even now in the summer are around 65°, so A.C. won't be an issue. I've talked the gf into a 4x8 space in the basement(concerte floors I assume this will keep things cooler) and I'll be using a 1000w hid. Hortilux blue and super hps. Now I know what you're going to say....get another 1000w for the other 4x4...im going to! Just not at the moment but the plants will only be in a 4x4 of the 4x8 so still good foot print. I'm wanting to do 6 plants. 4 week veg then flip. So(yes this isn't just a ramble) I wanted advice on exhaust and inline? Is 440cfm enough for intake and exhaust? And how would you "hang" them I'll post a pic so you can see what I'm working with(only 1 wall is up currently but you get what I'm going after) I'd really like some ideas from people! Ideas for humidistat placement, humidifiers and dehumidifers, stand fan vs wall fan etc...help me out guys!

Just a noobs opinion...go with LED over HPS. Not only do they seem to outperform (if you get the right setup) but the cost of ventilation equipment and electricity goes way down. Plus you only need to replace your LED cobs every...5 years I think? HPS bulbs are supposed to be replaced every 6 months right?

Don't take my opinion as fact, but hopefully some growers with more rep will back me up here!

LEDs are a huge upfront cost that I cannot afford! Lol well other than Chinese sub par lights. I'd like to implement leds as supp light one day. The king is still HPS for all around, but heard people are saying hps led hybrid lighting is all out amazing! I'm sticking to what I have for budget reasons but thank you for the advice!

Maybe, but it's not proper debate etiquette to deny another persons opinion without providing counter evidence...
This isnt a "what is better" thread.
He has 1000w HID. That means he is in the A game of home growing. For the cost of ONE COB LED to replace that 1000 w (and he would probably need two due to the lack of spread you get with LED) he could have AC and CO2 and a light mover....

A watt of power is a watt of power, doesnt matter what light you use thats a constant.

Nothing wrong with LED, COBS, Quantum boards, CMH, CFLs, T5's, whatever. They all have their place but why tell someone to replace a good proven light when they didnt ask for replacement advice?

id go a 600w for the other 4x4, its just about the perfect footprint for that size tent and will help keep the costs down.

"I'd like some ideas from people!"

My idea was to use this transition to invest in an LED light that will lower electricity bill costs and therefore eventually pay for itself. You can disagree with it if you'd like but it's not like its an outlandish or unacceptable opinion given the topic.

Although I do honestly appreciate the advice! I was really in need of "air circulation and other air stuff" ideas! I probably should of said something but my silly stoned ass forgot. That's what my main questions and ideas were directed towards! Like good fans? is 440cfm enough for exhaust? Hanging the fans up with my setup? Stand osc fan, or wall osc fan? Or both? Stuff like that! Truly thank you though I'm gonna keep my eye out for a deal on some LEDs!

well, my advice would be to go sealed room, AC, CO2 and light mover. Use 3 tents or rooms. Have two flower and one veg and get a harvest every 30 days. Co2 gets u 25% more so more than pays for the AC. Light mover gets u up to 25% more as well.
Sealed room means less problems.

Think that'll be a good coverage area? I should probably swap to parabolic hoods then huh? Spread it more evenly?

Id love to be able to do a room like your doing.

Concrete floors are pretty handy but you may need to place the plants on something else. Concrete can get cold and effect root temps. Thats something im going to have to fix next winter.
where u running a 1000w in a 3x3? or do u have a second light?

@SchweeDubz sorry if i may of come across harsh earlier, i didn't mean it to be.

First just because the temps are 65 doesnt meant you dont need an a/c each 1000w will raise the temp on average 20 degrees 4k btu of ac is needed per hood unless you are running them open then you will need 6k btu per hood.
Cobs and quantum boards are nice and yes a little pricey upfront but do save in the long rin. Just use what you have and upgrade later.
You say its going to be in the basement how big is the area?
Do you want to veg and then flower in one area or do you want to set up a perpetual grow and harvest every month?
I would seal the area as best as I could for running co2.
You asked if 440cfm is enough to vent what are you going to vent? the lights? why use the money towards for a 1 ton ac and run the lights open and just scrub the room with a carbon filter and fan
I would suggest at least 2 circulating fans per 1000w light. one above the canopy and one below

I was running 400w in 3x3 lol so gonna continue vegging in my 3x3 and constantly flow them into the 4x8 room.(traded my 400w for t5s from a buddy.) Yea I could build a wood stage for the plants, didn't even think about that LOL this is why I posted haha

I'm talking CFM because I want to cycle fresh air from outside and remove air from the grow space, that's still important regardless right? And yea I let the bulb run for 12 hours and temps were about 80° so you're right I wanna get an A.C. esp if I'm going to add another light. Question, if I'm running ac does the duct have to go out a window? I'm about 20ft from the window lol
