What I said completely went over your head apparently. Little history/civics lesson: In 1964 there was a law passed by Congress called the Civil Rights Act, which provided that there would be no discrimination in a public space based on sex, color, religious creed. A public space is classified as: A store, restaurant, or any area where the public may enter.
You realize we are talking about whether or not you have a receipt, right? Are you suggesting that some people are just born with receipts and some not?

From what I've read, you seem pretty lucid. What gives?

Fair warning; we have a lot of petty fascists, racists and outright classists here... Seems the dumbing down of 'Murrica is well underway.

I'm sorry for not rallying around a 'cause' that I find absolutely ridiculous.

If my idea of worthy causes aren't good enough for you, I could stop voting for liberal candidates. Being a middle class minority in a red state probably means I have no idea what discrimination is like. I'll also pull my support for a livable wage and free higher education.

Hmmn, no. I think I'll continue supporting things that make differences, and not by making people without receipts a protected class.

Something tells me a lot of you folks have never experienced discrimination based on your skin color, sex, sexual orientation or religious belief. Pretty straight forward if customers A and B walk in with returns customer A gets a refund customer B gets a "time coded gift card" to spend on merchandise only in the store because customer B happens to be lower income/a minority/a woman/gay/Muslim/etc that is the basis of discrimination.
Discriminating against bus riders is a time honored tradition in America. It's even codified in the Constitution.

Lol...

Starts a thread about discrimination...

Discriminates against foreigners in it...

Only in Sky's head does that make sense.
foreigner discrimination is in your mind..you know there are differences between here and the uk..you use uk thought process when debating american-ism..evident when you state that you cannot bring merchandise back unless there is a receipt..that may be uk, but most certainly not america..we are all about 'ease of transaction'..if a store wishes to not honor its posted obligation? or introduce a variable into the equation not posted? plenty more where that came from..and we will post them..the good, the bad and the ugly..for we are american..it's what we do.

They can add any conditions they want as long as they dont break the law.

Are you literally retarded?

"While state laws primarily govern the issue of returned merchandise, there's no federal law that requires a merchant to refund money. Per most state laws, refunds are subject to the established store refund policy at the time of purchase, unless the product purchased is found to be unfit for the purpose of which it was intended. A customer changing his or her mind after making a purchase, such as deciding they want a bigger television screen, is not the fault of the merchant and the merchant cannot be held responsible.

Generally speaking, most stores do offer refunds. It is usually pursuant to a store policy which explicitly that returns are extended, in order to create and keep good will in the community; but again, this is a store policy and not a federal law."

Seriously...

conditions corporation-wide..this was targeted demographically within certain stores same town..meaning this store has maybe 8 locations and 50% of which, are doing the 'special' timed card..the less privileged areas to be precise.

No actually, in Florida the only condition is that a store has to state if they won't take returns at the POS and if that isnt the case you have 20 days to make a return (which is then subject to the stores conditions).

Regional variations are allowed also.

Sorry Sky, your lawyer is taking you for a ride.
