It finally came today. Hooked it up,hard to believe those 4 little leds can do anything in just 15 minutes per 12/12 period. Anyone get any experience with these?

Might not want to know this but this is how long it takes for the far red to initiate sleep in plants. After lights out a one second pulse of far red will put MJ to sleep as long as there is little to none far red in your regular grow lights. So if you have some 90 Cri lights you wasted you money since they supply enough far red to initiate sleep right away unlike 70 and 80 cri leds. I like to use the far red in veg after topping 3 or 4 times and let the ladies stretch out about a foot before gently bending them over and tie them down with a scrog net. Let them recover for a week or two with zero far red so you get bushy growth again and then flower. But this way I can fill my grow room while complying with Colorado state law that says you can only flower 3 plants at a time. Even though it only takes a second i run my far red for 2 minutes before lights out and 3 minutes after. If they get too stretchy you might want to cut back on the 15 minutes.

i suggest you go read the far red thread.

WhY would I ? If you look into the science what I said is correct only takes one pulse to put plants to sleep.
No. Go read the far red thread. Same with OP @mathewscott I posted you the link in the other thread you had so im guessing you never even went there. Since I have at times been spoon fed information myself by other members here, its my turn to give back.
What size is your grow area?

No thats partly wrong too. Yes 90 cri has far red but youd have to have a way to get those diodes to turn on only after the other diodes go out and then leave them on for 1-5 min. Go read the far read thread here https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-far-red-thread.867665/

Give to someone that needs your help I sure as hell don't ! For the second one thats a matter of opinion. The far red thread proves nothing really unless there is some peer reviewed science you want to show me that is newer then what I have read that is in there. Kinda doubt that but yeah if you actually want to prove something to me going to have to come up with something like this. 20 people saying the same thing in a thread doesn't make them right. https://academic.oup.com/jxb/article/65/11/2835/2877369

I highly disagree. Most of the plants in that paper you linked arent even cannabis plants LOL.
I dont have to prove anything. The growers on that thread did with pictures and detailed reports. Maybe instead of assuming the thread proves nothing you should read the WHOLE thread (I did twice). Why make things harder when people already did the homework for you. All you got to do is read it and take notes. Sheesh

In a very old thread here, Gromau5 reckoned he watched his shrubbery fall asleep in 3 1/2 minutes.
Suggested to leave his puck on for 5 after lights out

I did man. If I missed your posts its probably because I didnt find any significance in them (no offense). Captain morgan, groerr, alelon (or some shit) and random blame are the ones who contributed most to that thread and I go by the advice they put on there.Cant forget churchhaze for trying to build a far red unit as well. For example, randomblame posted a research paper about plants needing about 2000-4000umols of far red to activate the phytocromes to put them to sleep. I have no idea how "One second pulse" of far red reaches that ppf to be honest. Dont know where you got that from. Even the paper you posted said 5 minutes bro.
Depending on driver, how strong and how many far red diodes your fixture has, aleolon posted the formula on how to calculate (im not going to post it because I will make YOU look for it. Im not giving advice to you) how long to run the lights to hit that 2000-4000 umols of far red.
Also, groerr and captain morgan gave us examples of what schedules to run. Captain morgans is 12/12 for the first two weeks, 13-14/10 for a few weeks, and 12/12 the last two weeks. He also said 12/12 with far red still finishes faster.
Groerrs schedule is different but Ill make you find that as well. Fuck it since im a nice guy his was 11.5/12.5
What did you contribute to that thread? I cant really remember:peace:
EDIT Only two posts. One about your diy far red build and one about the timer. Yep, nothing memorable there but thanks for showing your diy i guess.
