Last season when I was trying to grow bud the plants did grow but the stalk was extremely lanky and Curvy. How do you get them to be straight and thick?

they are stretching for light. bring your light closer and they will not ba as lanky. this could mean investing more in ventilation for your area.

I suspect that your problem was insufficient direct sunlight.
Try and find a location that receives at least 7 to 8 hours of DIRECT sunlight every day.
Diffuse or dappled sunlight will result in lanky plants, and feathery or wispy buds.
Scout out some areas before next season that will provide more direct sunlight to your plants….the more direct sunlight, the better….the buds LOVE direct sunlight!!!

I had them in direct sunlight at least 8 hrs a day. There was NO bushes or anything diffusing the sunlight. It was DIrect sunlight. Back when I was a little stoner I thought they were getting to much, but now I know otherwise. but this still doesn't explain why they grew like this. I was using regular tap water that I had in a sealed container for 1 week.(To dissapate the chlorine). and I was using plant food made from eatrhworm poo. miracle grow soil mixed with peat. That was my basic materials list. any environmental factors? Would wind make them do this? As far as I can explain it, it seemed they were following the sun rising and setting. let me know what you think.

Just a thought iv heard if you keep day and night temps nearly the same it stops the lanky kicking in. during flowering...good luck

I bet it's a lack of nitrogen..
get yourself a soiltest kit for 5 bucks and adjust your amendments before and after planting..

Try boiling the water in a kettle and catching the pure steamed water molecules in cup angle above your kettle and let it drip into another cup.
This allows for pure water.
Peat moss is a potential denaturizer of earthworm poo.
Try removing the peat next time if your using the poo.

water ph tests are cheap, get them at a hardware/hydro/pool store. a pool test kit will do for water. a soil meter runs under 20$ at Home depot. there are very cheap one time soil ph test kits too.
