Does anyone else see the contradiction here? This came from the above article.

"Health Canada has countered in court documents that the current Medical Marijuana Access Regulations were never intended to permit the growth of an industry. The system came into place in 2001 with 85 permits; in 2013, more than 29,719 personal use permits were issued. Health Canada projects that by 2024 there will be 450,000 recognized users, creating a taxable industry with potential annual revenues of $1.3 billion."

According to my number crunching there was an average of 2469.5 patients/year since 2001. By 2024 there will be an estimated average of 42028.1 patients/year using med mari. Yeah ok.....never intended to permit growth of industry. But wait...there's a potential shitload of money to be made. Suddenly it has become a industry where above board profits can be made.

I applaud the VPD. They've got their priorities in order. Common sense indicates, that if you stay below the radar and don't do anything too stupid, peeps in bc are going to be alright to continue growing. After all, someone has to supply the dispensaries.

If you look at the numbers of ATP's, you will see that there has been exponential growth, not average growth as you stated. By following logical exponential growth, the estimate of 450,000 may actually be low.

First of all, I did indicate it was my way of calculating....either way, the point I was trying to make was that from one side of their face, the government says it wasn't intended to be a growth industry yet when all these sick people started showing up they were singing a different tune out if the other side of their face. Shame on the government if that future number is low. What has really happened was that they didn't expect the size of the prescriptions. Remember the average from Isreali studies says we should all only be using something like 3g/day max. So obviously people outside of the box are diverting, selling to kids, blah, blah, blah.

I used the numbers from that article. I am assuming when they say permits they mean ATPs. Something big happened in I believe 2010 or 2011 as I remember seeing something from the affidavits indicating a huge increase that year. I bet my numbers are more accurate the governments bullshit, if the original numbers are correct.

sad FACT is...they can do what ever they please. There is nothing you can do about it either. Just pay lawyers and go to court is what will happen. Same Ole BS to take your rights away as usual.
