Feeling Overwhelmed - Basic Nute Questions

Alright I found a place in town that has Fox Farm and I'm looking at the Happy Frog soil as I see a lot of people using it with good results. My next question is..... How many bottles of nutes do I need? I'd much prefer to just have one bottle(or mix) to put in while vegging and one bottle wile flowering. Can I do this?

You could, but imo the amount of research to find a one-bottle solution for each stage ... and not getting a wrong formula that'll yield a creeping imbalance that leads to hair-pulling frustration ... is neither easy norreliable. Why not go with a proven mix-from-three product, like GH Flora? cn

Here is Flora 3-part: Grow, Micro and Bloom. On the left sidebar is a button labeled "Schedule" ... i use the "Basic Drain-to-waste" proportions in RO water for my Happy Frog grow, minus extras in the right columns. I suggest you disregard the "Expert" category ... it is a sales pitch for extra (redundant) products imo. A quart each of the three basics will see you through a grow or two, and while not Miracle-Gro cheap, it's complete, unadorned and proven. All my opinion/experience, of course. cn

Thank you so much! Learned a lot from reading all that now. I'm gonna go out and pick up some of this stuff in a few from a local place. The only thing I worry about is if the friendly people come and ask if they can help me and ask what I'm growing...... do I say tomatoes? Cause I don't want to straight up say pot but I would like their help and advice.....

"Tomatoes" is always good. So's lettuce/leaf crops ... similar feed profile and a believable winter crop. I otoh would reach for the absurd ... hydroponic Saguaro or kelp or giant Sequoia ... cn

Well I got some Fox Farms Happy Frog and replanted my girls. They didn't have the GH Flora nutes, only some Fox Farms and others. I'm pretty set on using the GH though as it seems extremely easy and effective and I hear tons of great things about them! Ordering up a set of the Flora series on Amazon now :)

Thanks for your help everyone!!

Make sure to add some inert perlite to the Happy Frog about 3:1 and you will not need nutes of any kind for a good 3 weeks. I start my seedlings in a 4" pot by the time the nutes start running down, I am ready to transplant into their finishing pot (I don't ever do more than 1 transplant) and 3 weeks later I start to nute at 1/2 dosage. Never had any issues with this method. Good luck!

I did not get any inert perlite......... is this going to be a problem? I doubt the guy is still open now to go and get some, and I'm already replanted :(

Well, don't know if it will be a problem or not too be honest just be careful not to over-water.

I gave them all probably about 1/3 cup water each (water ph is 7.87) just around the stem. The last time they had water before today was on Xmas day.

Check my sig for my grow

UPS shows that I will be receiving my General Hydroponics Flora 3-part Nutrient system tomorrow :)

I'm using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil and have been told not to worry about adding any nutes for a few week as the plants will be using the nutes in the Happy Frog for a while still before needing any more.
