Hi Guys, This is my first ever grow, not sure why i have not tried untill now but am already finding the whole thing really interesting and would love any tips etc from some of you, In the top fed dwc i have barneys farm lsd and black domina and in the soil i have o.z kush.
I germinated in "root it" (same as root riot i think) after 3-4 days all had popped and had a tap root coming out of the bottom so 4 days ago i put them into my grow tent Under a 600w hps, to start with being a big noob i had my light way too high (frightened of cooking them) so i have had some stretch especially from the 2 in soil as they were lower than the bubbleponics reservoir. I have had to re-plant o.z kush lower in the pot today as she stretched so much she fell over. I have also slowely been lowering light and got it down to 60cm (23").
Temperature fluctuates between 24c up to 28c and res temp from 20c to 23c, Humidity sticks around the 40%.
added my first nutes when i saw the beggining of the second node of serrated leaves (last night) and have seen deffinate spurt of growth today. (photos from first day in installation 4 days ago.)

It looks like mine do after 4 days, I am also growing Black Domina, and OG Kush. My BD is doing real well and the OG is growing very slow but healthy. I do want to give you a tip, HPS is great for flower not as good for veg, if you switch to a bulb with more blue in the spectrum your plants will love it. You can even use a CFL, it would save you a lot of power and have less chance of heat stress on the seedlings.

hi guys babies are coming along nicely but had my first hick-up today put 4l of top up back into res last night with nutes for 4l and today black domina is showing what i assume is nute burn (can somebody confirm this for me plz?) I have washed out res and filled with water p.h to 6. How long should i leave it before adding nutes again? thanks.

Alot of growers only give 1/2 the recommended nutes and plain Ph water between. I do about 3/4 the recommended amount and every third water I just use plain water. Right now your plants are pretty small so they won't really be feeding much at all so if you choose to feed dilute the hell out of it. For about a week the growth may be stalled the plants will be focused on roots so don'the freak and add alot of nutes thinking that is why they are not growing.

I don't have my glasses with me but any nutes burn looks minor and they should recover without a problem.

I wouldn't have any nutes in there yet, let the root become a bit longer and start to branch into the water, maybe and not her node or two grow up top, then I would go 1/4 strength, 1/2, 3/4 based on what ever you see working.

See chart below

ok great thanks for the advice guys, just had to drop ph again, i ph'd to 6 when i did the res change and when i just checked it was back at 7 so dropped it to 5.8 must be Something to do with the new water?! I will just run plain water for few days then 1/4 dose once roots get longer just checked and lsd root has grown about 1cm today now down in the water and black is just starting to poke through the bottom.

hi everyone, had some decent growth since yest especially in root zone, 3 or 4 little roots dangling down into water, res temp was up to 25°c today when i got home so have upped the 2 fans to max and opened window, I have also added 1/4 strength of ghe trio so will check tonight and 2morrow for signs of nute burn but its only 1/4 of what i added last time so hopefully wont be a problem.

Hi guys new photos from this morn, came home tonight and domina turning a light green and slight yellowing on one of the leaves so have moved to 3/4 dose of ghe trio, also going to feed the 2 in soil tonight as they are looking very light green, as you can see northern lights seems to have stopped growing, hope she is just hungry, will keep you updated with some new photos tomorrow as im not working.

Hey noob , I have a single Dwc bucket, and I was struggling with managing my pH until I changed to a sulfuric acid based down. And also I condition my water/nutes before use now and I never had a more stable pH or better growth rate.

hey mate, have you had success with the dwc? im just a little worried about root rot more than anything, managing to keep my res between 22-24°c and cut out all light, if i do see signs of it im going to order some Xtreme garden mykos, i will prob end up buying a camping ice box (50-100l) also think they will be a bit stronger, things looking nice and clean and white in root area for time being, crazy to think that one of the freeby seeds is the one thats going crazy lol!
would also like to try and find a way to have an external res outside the tent with ball valve in Inside res to keep levelled off.

Yeah my Dwc bucket dose great. I use frienehiet scale so I can't translate. But my temps were high 70s at the worst. I use hydrogarde, and change the water weekly. I'm a soil grower and did this as a experiment . I got all excited and build a rdwc system and then I couldn't afford a water chiller, and abandoned ship. If your temps stay to high, it's easy to loose the grow . And I couldn't risk it.
