Wow friends,

This mystery plant is filling in so nicely! So many tops, and somehow I've managed to keep the canopy very even! Not bad for a total NOOB!! lolIMG_2038.JPGIMG_2036.JPG

Hopefully the luck continues with the babies! They are growing fast as well and will be ready to top their final time tomorrow or the next day.

great job, you are doing great, plants are looking healthy ! whatever strain you have there, sure likes a bit of puling and bending! responds very well! might not be a bed idea for you to experiment with clones, just to see the mechanism in behind and to keep you busy ;) especially because it's a great pheno, robust plant

I'm so proud :weed:
If you get extra fabric pots or have old ones that you can sacrifice, I like to make little cutouts to put over the soil. Basically you just cut the bottom circle out and cut a little slit through the circle to allow the stalk to push through. I know the pots are kinda pricey, but it's way better than getting gnats (or since it looks like you have a coco-heavy mix, mites are common). Obviously not a requirement, but at some point I highly recommend, until then you can cover up your dirt with some foil

Oh cool, thanks for the tip! Everything is still in FFOF, but I added the layer of coco on top so the soil wouldn't compact and the top dries faster. It seems to keep the top nice and dry, but mites sound annoying.

Alright friends,

I feel like we are well on our way to some green greatness!
IMG_2057.JPG
The babies have been topped, and I'd say pretty successfully manifolded. It's amazing how different these things are starting to grow now that they are getting a bit bigger.

Blue Dream seems to have closer nodes and be a bit bushier. I did notice one finger of one fan leaf is a slightly more yellow green on half the leaf. Wonder what caused this?IMG_2054.JPGIMG_2055.JPG

The Critical Kush is growing just a bit slower and is definitely trying to grow taller than wider.
IMG_2053.JPG
This is probably all that I will cut from the small ones. I want to take a few clones of the big mystery in a week or so once all of these shoots have a few nodes on them and are ready to be clipped.
IMG_2056.JPG
Hopefully by pruning some clones of the big one and letting these smaller ones bush out, I can even everything out.

My COBs will be here today! Amazed with how fast digikey and usps shipped. I am ordering heat sinks, driver and other miscellaneous supplies tomorrow and they will be here first thing next week. I'm hoping to have the light built by Feb 1st or 2nd.

I believe I'm still on track to flower around Valentine's Day which has been my goal all along. This will give the plants two weeks under the new cob fixture before flipping, which will free up my Mars Hydro panel to put the clones under.

So far so good! -Except the leaf I ripped when moving the big one, poor girl :(

Hey friends, here's an update for the few of you following. I suspect that once I build my COB and make the flip, more people will begin to chime in.

Regardless of the commentary, it is still awesome to be able to go back through this journal and see all the progress I've made in just 6 weeks!IMG_2139.JPG

My caregiver friend is the person that grew the bud that produced the mystery seed. We are almost certain that it is Jack Herer, which is one of my favorites that he's grown!

So the Jack herer continues to bush out like crazy. I unstaked the 8 main branches and the tallest tops are still only 7-8" high. I've begun supercropping these tallest tops instead of staking everything down. Only 2 or 3 at a time, and then 2-3 more once they first ones fully recover.

I am still planning on cloning, but will need to act quickly in ordering supplies and getting a small place setup. I also plan on ordering a 2x4 tent to get some more stuff vegging to flower behind these three.

I think it's time for me to stop calling the smaller one babies at this point. They have exploded over the last week. I have staked down the 8 main branches, which has resulted in a very similar trunk structure as the big one! I'll continue ton stake the branches outwards towards to edge of the pot and then will let them grow upwards to fill in the screen.

Does 10" sound ok for the screen height, or should I go taller? I don't see the Jack Herer getting much over 10" before taking up more than her fair share of space lol

Wow, how quickly things change. I went from "This is taking forever" to "Shit, I'm running out of time."

I have been able to keep the plants very short and bushy by utilizing a lot of LST and, now supercropping on the Jack Herer.

I am getting some fat branches and a nice even canopy from this training alone.

Since this is my first grow, and I have 3 different strains going, I am deciding against the scrog. I want to be able to get to the plants, and I like being able to move them around to tidy up the closet. I have plenty of height to work with, and with 300W COB and all surfaces covered with sun film, I don't see light penetration being a problem.
IMG_2161.JPG
I will get rid of some larf a week or so before flowering if necessary, but as of right now, I've got a nice 14"x20" canopy filling in nicely.IMG_2164.JPG

Blue Dream and Critical Kush are catching up as well. I will continue to stake the main branches down to the edge of the pot, and then let all of the branches fill in similar to the Jack Herer before flipping.IMG_2162.JPG

Looking great man. I'm sure you already are, but if you're not already, make sure you clean and dry your runoff containers as often as possible. Gnats and flies love that shit
YES that's half the reason I don't want to do the screen. It's so much easier take everything out and give it a good sweep and wipe down. I'm afraid once the screen is in, it will be much tougher to maneuver around.

The screen has it's purpose. It's great for support and equal partition of the space . If anything, put it just before starting 12/12 so you'll have 2 more weeks after to arrange the branches and tie them up and then, that is it...

Have you decided what will you do? To defoliate or not to defoliate, that is the question...

I think once I get my COB set up, I will have a better idea how much penetration there will be. I will probably do a small undergrowth trim next week, and then a week or two into flower (once they stretch a bit) I will clear out the rest of everything not getting light

Get ready for the girls to explode. Mine sure did after I hung cobs. What cobs did you use? It all looks good!
3000k 90CRI Vero 29. Really awesome color. They should be ready to flip any time now. I need the two smaller ones to get a little wider and taller. I've been shooting for a Valentine's Day flup since I ordered the seeds. I can't believe I'm still on schedule!

Awesome. Keep up the good work. Nothing like a good plan well executed :weed:
