This is my first grow.

6sqf Box
Six 2,600 Lumen CFLs
Mylar lined
8 Plants
The Plants are Northern Lights, and were bought from a seed store.

The one in the pictures is 21 days old. I trimmed a few of the leaves off, on the advice of someone else. Sound like a good idea?

More pics to come.

plant looks healthy and still in veg. what would be the reasoning for trimming it at all? unless your making clones i don't see why that would be a good idea.

the bigger the leaf the more photosynthesis its making happen. thats a ridiculous reason to trim those leaves off. whoever it was they are trying to sound like they know more than do about growing. these guys on here know theyre stuff. don't listen to that kind of advise again without running by the people on the board. you'll be glad you did.

Here are the plants as of Dec 5th 2008.

The age ranges from 27 days old to 19 days old. The oldest is in the rear, second from the left. The youngest is in the rear, far right. It was an odd seed, it was the smallest of them all, it took 4 days to germ and it had yellow all over the root sticking out, I didn't think it would live, but it did and now it's the shortest of the grow.

Cheers

they look really healthy. i don't see a fan in there. do you have one blowing on them? helps strengthen the stems and circulate the air around the plants. you could flower any time you want. if that is doubling as your flower cab you had better do it soon. they will double in hieght at least during flower. some strains can triple in hieght.

There isn't an actual a fan blowing on them. However, the box uses 3 fans for ventilation.

The first fan is in the air intake at the window, the second is located at the box intake, and the last fan is the outtake. The outtake fan is located around 10 inches from the soil, the plants still aren't quite tall enough to reach the fan itself.

The tallest plant is 9/half inches. I'm thinking of waiting until they're around 10 inches, I've given them a total of 25 inches grow room, and it's easily expandable. The strain is Northern Lights, hopefully they won't get over 23 inches.

Which brings me to my last question. How much yield will I get? If the plants are around 20 inches at the end? I'm currently not sure how many females I'll end up with, I think I've identified at least two.

Thanks,
Trojan.

well if your nodes are an inch or less apart and you've got the right nutes you can get as much as an ounce per plant. they look a little stretched at the bottom. if you fill those pots in some more it'll help the air circulate better (because its not staying stagnant in the area of the pot with no soil) and the burried part of the stem will grow more roots off it to give the plants a little more stability.

I also took some clones. I was worried about them at first, the larger one is the first one I did, and the first morning after I did it, all the leaves were laying the in dirt, but now it's all perked back up.

The one of the left was off a plant that doesn't seem to be showing sex yet, but the other two look to be female. The little seedling was from some seeds someone gave me, I tried to germ 8, and that was the only one that sprouted.

I took a picture of the rooting gel I'm using, but I took a picture of the french label. I need to go and buy some new batteries, soon as I do I'll take some more pictures of my fans to see what you guys think of them.

I decided to flower 4. 12/12 started on the 22th of Dec. It would appear that all so far are male.

Here's two shots of the worst looking plants. How likely is it that out of those 4 are 4 males?

I could really use some help on this.

Thanks.
