First grow. Starting to cure, are my buds suppose to smell like this??

Hello riu community. This is my first grow and I've harvested a couple plants a little early because of nanners and a few more finished out about a week ago.

I think i might be having trouble with my curing, the stuff I took weeks ago is pretty dry and brittle, even leaving it in the jar without burping for a day or two it still doesn't soften up. It also has a weird smell to it that gets pretty strong after 24hrs of not burping. It doesn't really smell grassy or like weed or mold either, I don't know how to describe the smell but it's an odd smell, is that normal early in the curing process??

Also will these buds soften back up or did I screw it up by over drying them? I have some 62% RH bovitas on the way also(mail)..

As for my finished plants I have a closet that stayed in the perfect range of temp and RH, 73 degrees with a steady RH of 53%. These finished ones dried in there and I had a fan blowing at floor level on low to keep air moving. After 5 days they seem to have dried nicely, very gooey and was breaking apart like bud should. So I stuck them in jars and they too put off a strong odd smell that I cannot describe.. You can just barely make out the scent of marijuana. Is this odd smell normal in the beginning of curing or am I doing something wrong? And if so what do you think it may be? Even letting them sit out overnight and then going back into the jar they put off the same aroma after very little time in the jar..

Does the smell have a pungent fuel smell? Somewhere between kerosene and diesel? With after-hints of dry fruits and whiffs out the jar like like green fart?

That's normal.

Yeah I just got home from work and took some whiffs of it. Although it still does not really smell like normal weed it does have a fuel and strong chemical like smell to it. And one jar specifically actually smelled very pungent like fart/gas smell. Not a very appealing smell but if that's normal then sweet.

How long does it usually take for that strange odor to go away and smell like actual weed? And also how often do you burp your fresh curing buds?

They are the outcome of an accidental male blueberry that crossed with a northern lights(dinafem or something like that, I'm guessing the real NL is clone only, these were all seedbank seeds), skunk #1, other blueberry's and headband

They all reek but 2 in particular are insane. As soon as I open the half full quart jar it fills the whole room with that strange odor

My plan was to do that but kinda made a noob mistake. I tried throwing 3 to 4 week old plants into 12/12 to sex them and take them back out but some just wernt mature enough to show until like 10 days 12/12 and then I tried going back to veg but half of them already had there mind set and I didn't want to totally screw them up so I went back to flower after 4 days.. I basically have an endless supply to the same seeds though. I stressed them all out pretty bad though with a few different things, typical first timer mistakes, and despite that I still am getting some pretty nice buds off them.
Plus the few I've chopped so far that I thought were done I'm kinda thinking were one week early so I'm pretty pleased with the genetics so far.
Have tried one strain/pheno lastnight and now a different one as we speak. It's better than my colorado connects stuff, and still had about 10% clear trics

Wait 30-60 days of curing AFTER placing in jars and it will smell just like your wanting it too.
