first grow - what happened?

i think you only have one main stem unless you top or fim your plants and as for the flowering that's good. are you in 12-12? and at least it's female.

okay so its good? now, about this "topping" and "fimming" , what is this? does the flower look normal on this? will it just be one flower? see, i don't understand where the buds grow if there is just one stem. there are four nodes of leaves before that flower, now there are three sets of leaves (tiny leaves) growing with the flower. What will happen next? Will there be more flowers? i have it casually on 12/12 - i didnt expect the plant to live this long.... i am growing some stoney seeds next so this is my practice grow :) thanks for your quick reply!!

topping and fimming are methods of increasing the tops and growshoots of your plants. if done regularly it also restricts height and causes the plant to grow outward making new shoots. you cut the main stem just above a set of large fan leaves and two shoots grow out of what was one. fimming is more complicated and can cause four or more new growths. how many sets of leaves do you have and how old is it/? you should wait until you have a min. of 10 sets. and you should wait at least 40 days to 12-12. you usually do this while they're young for shorter plants and more bud sites and leaves.

i dont really know how old they are - i planted them casually and i haven't been really proactive about following the growing rules. there are five sets of leaves, then the little tiny sets that are growing with the flower. i know its been more than 40 days, i havent done anything to it but water it and turn the light on/off when i think of it. i go for approx. 12/12 but i dont have them in a controlled environment, so they are exposed to sunlight from the window as well as the lighting i provide. as i said, i've got some nice seeds that just sprouted, and i want to do them up proper, so this little girlie is just my test. but i like her and she has a pretty flower so far. i mean, does that flower look normal?
i read up on this topping/fimming thing, as well as methods to encourage branching. so what do you think im going to get from this girl? i really just want to know whats up with the flower, if thats going to be the only flower, and if it looks normal?
thanks again!!!

that top of the plant will be chronic if you don't trim it. if it's an indica and you don't run out of room. that little flower will swell out more, but i think if you had more sets of leaves you'd get more flowers, cuz they usually start from those nodes. the plant will grow more sets of leaves closer together and form a tight collection of nugs near the top. your plant looks like it needs more light. i like 7 and nine finger leaves myself. starting your new plants under 24-0 and keeping them close to the light will almost ensure more than 10 sets of leaves before you preflower. your plant needs to be in complete darkness though at night or it will grow slow or become a herm. also maybe try using nutes.

dude i dont know shit compared to alot of people on here but the first thing you gotta do is get a fully enclosed and ventilated area for your plant your never gonna get a accurate pallet to judge anything on otherwise and if you intend on growing more seeds of good strains i would do them justice by giving them there own space to flourish! A small amount of light given offf by any outside light source while your plants sleep can be enough to keep them awake and will dramatically effect the way the plants grow and espeacially effect the flowering process. you can build a small learners room very cheaply and easily out of custom wood and some reflective backing like milon or even gloss white paint just be sure to use water based paint and let fumes disperse to avoid gassing your plants!

how tall is she? she doesnt look too big so i dont think u will be getting a lot out of her. She does look healthy tho! Thats a good sign, finish this then read up a load and go for it proper!! GL

thanks thanks thanks!!!! i do love her, she is so healthy and pretty :) but, she was grown without the proper guidance, i am a bad mom !!!!! I have just planted four germinated sliver haze seeds, who are about an inch tall now. i am going to be building them a perfect little home to grow in, using the "pc case" model. so this girlie, she will provide me one nice bud you think? how long do you think until she's ready to donate it to me??

oh to answer the question, she is approx. 8" tall - the flower is just at the top, and the sets of leaves leading up to her are spaced too far apart, which indicates not close enough to the light, correct?

now with the seedlings, should i put them right up directly under the light right away, once in their new perfect home?

thanks again :)

oh come on man... terrible. i thought you had at least a halide. there's a link to a site on here somewhere that has 25 dollar 150 watt HPS lights. one of those would be a lot better than that. or you could be a better parent and get 3 or 4. like 600 watts of HPS power to help your flower be all it can be.

your not gonna get anyhting out of that silver haze unless you get a LOT more light.

There is a link at the top of the page to the grow FAQ, have a read of the parts relevant to you and then use it as a reference in future.

You can have florescent light a couple of inches (50mm) from the plant tops without burning them.

Good luck.:-):peace:

oo i just found out that these seedlings i have are actually from the afghani .... so ya its not the silver haze, its afghani. that was yummy bud, i hope i can treat these seedlings right! now i did read about lighting and such, arent those hps lights expensive to run? how notice able would it be on my bill?

the girlie who's growing now (the one i posted about) was just a random seed i found left on my table, i thought i'd try it out for a suprise. well, SUPRISE! i need to be a better mommy :(
