Hey guys, figured I would start a blog to help other and gain helpful criticism.

I finally bought my own home, no more renting no more apartments, so I have a little freedom, been smoking for years but always hated the hassle or purchasing and never had a reliable long term source. The week I moved in I was greeted by my neighbour and as luck would have it he likes to grow his own outdoor plants aswell! Thats where this all started, after we blazed a few and gained his trust he actually gave me a clone in a solo cup and I planted her outside about 2 months ago.

No special care, just water and fresh organic planting soil as I had no knowledge the day he gave it to me, just this last week I heard of LST and this is how she sits today.

I did order some Northern lights seeds from Nirvana but since they wont be here for 2-3weeks and mom was doing quite well outside I decided to take a few clones off of her, I took 5 clones off of the lower branches, dipped in rooting powder and set in moist coco coir/perlite

For the veg box I bought a $5 cabinet from the thrift store, it is from a hospital so it is made very well. It is 18X18X22" inside. I did a few mods to it like give it a nice coat of stain, painted the inside flat white, cutouts for a 5" fan and a vent, weatherstrip and removed the upper drawer and hinged the panel so I can access the adjustment for the reflector. I also made a reflector for the 6 23w 6500k bulbs I will be using out of a street sign and some fancy bends, painted white, added hook etc

As of today the clones dont seem to be doing the greatest, 4 are still green with no yellowing or shrivelling, but that one back plant is started to severely wilt discolor and shrivel, looks like it may not make it. I wish they all were a little more perky but its only day 3. Im running a single 23w bulb 12" away on an 18/6 schedule, temps range from 75-83 through the full day

This gives me about a month to get the main veg/flower box in order. I went with a 2x4x4 grow tent for simplicity, I will be running 11 T5 36" bulbs because I got the fixtures for basically free, I also have about 50 bulbs ranging from 3000-4100k, the 3000/3500 bulbs are 21w but are the right spectrum (so the internet says for flower) but the 4100 are 39w and probably alot more lumens (i forget at the moment) but arent the ideal spectrum... So I need some advice on that aspect.

I also have orderred the GeneralHydroponics Flora series nutrients and the CalMag supplement, a few 1 gallon and 5 gallon Smart Pots and a 6" inline duct fan and a speed controller to take care of exhaust.

The tent make this box very easy, all I really need to make is a reflector to mount all 6 fixtures to for simplicity to be able to raise and lower all of them at once. I will also fab some sort of SCROG screen as I will be heavily training these plants to a flat profile as best I can to make best use of the fluorescent low penetration

This is getting a bit long so i will post pics as these clones hopefully grow, transplanting and when the rest of my supplies arrive, Id love any positive criticism I can get to making this more succesful. These clones are from an unknown feminized strain and are really just a "learning curve" grow, the Northern lights that will follow them I hope to have great results and yield as the temperatures in the house will be GREAT in the fall ( I live in Canada so temperatures are crazy)

Happy growing!

Hey and welcome. Clones need to be kept moist (under a dome or some people use plastic sangwich bags over solo cups) for at least a week until they start rooting.

Thank you, I do actually have a clear plastic tupperware type pan over top of the white container the solo cup are sitting it, just took it off for photo and misting, been misting about 3-4x a day, havent had to water the medium since I first wet it to plant the clones, I figured it would dry out faster, maybe the misting is slowing that

Keep at it and they should root. Mist the container lid more than the cuttings. The medium shouldn't get too wet, just moist.
Good luck!
