First time growing.

Hi, I am new to the board as well as the world of growing. I have read the Cannabis grow bible, as well as done extensive research about CFLs. On the other hand, I am totally lost in the world of HPS etc. lights. I don't know half the stuff people talk about with regular bulbs.

So I decided to start with a CFL grow. First off, I am not in the greatest location to grow, so I have had to improvise a lot. Second I don't really have the cash right now to buy a bunch of materials.

I was just wondering if you guys could give me an idea of what type of yield I might get with my setup. Basically I have a 26W 6700K CFL on 1 plant. I know that isn't hardly enough, but I take the plant and put it in direct sunlight for about 6 hours out of 24 hours. Right now it is vegging with only a couple of leaves. I bought a 42W 2700K light I am planning on using for flowering. I also have 20-20-20 fertilizer that I haven't applied yet, as the plant is only about 2-3 weeks old.

So basically I know my setup is shit, but I think after this initial trial I will upgrade a bunch of stuff. I just wanted to see if this will actually work.

So I already know one light isn't enough, but will the sunlight make up for it a little bit? I am hoping you guys can give me an idea of the quality/quantity of marijuana I can harvest.

Thanks! I just went to the chat and got a lot of great ideas for what I can do. I plan to basically expand my operation and get a tupperware container, paint it white and grow from there on out. I am also going to get a couple of Y splitters and some more sockets.

I will hopefully get back on here with some cool pictures and such! Wish me luck!

Well, for an update, I went out and got 2 more 24W 6700K bulbs. So now I have 3 24W 6700K bulbs and 1 42W 2700K bulb on three plants. I probably need more light right? Also, do most of you guys keep your plants under lamps 24/7 or do you let them out to play in the sun during the day and keep them under lights at night?

Thanks man, I am about to buy some rubbermaid tubs so I can grow full scale and have a lighting system that goes up and down. Hopefully I will gain a decent amount of Marijuana...if only the cash was there...I will try to look for his book.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have put a little more time into my rig now, I have 1 42W 2700K light, and 4 26W 6700K lights on two seedlings. Mylar coated interior, and lots of air circulation. Can you guys give me any advice, as it seems like these are growing a little slowly. More light maybe?

I grow with many cfl's, co I always suggest more. GO get more. Also move the lights as close as you can without buring the plants. Also, try to use side light, as it is much brighter than the tops. Are you using any kind of reflector?

Well, I have mylar all around, but I dont have a reflector for the bulbs themselves. The lights are as close as possible already and I am moving them up pretty frequently so hopefully that is a good indicator. Also the lights are on their side, not pointing down, so the plants are getting that light. I have also started LST because I don't have that much room and I figured that would be a good way to keep precious space.
