first time making cannabutter

so I just made some cannabutter last night using about a half ounce of dried/cured sugar leaf, and a little more than a half ounce of dried/cured ground up bud for 3 sticks of butter. I cooked it all together for 3 hours strained through a wire strainer and a cheesecloth. Let it sit overnight in the fridge and this morning I dumped the waste water and seperated the butter. Now the smell, is what I imagine to be the correct smell, kind of very strong. But I've seen other butters that are very green while mines a yellow color with a very tiny shade of green that is almost unnoticable. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm just wondering based on that information if it sounds like I did it right? Or if it should look like that? Like I said first time and any help would be awesome. Thanks! (Won't let me upload pics from my phone, will do so later from my computer. Just think yellow butter)

Here's an answer from a fellow RIU user right here

the green tint is caused by chlorophyll that is leached out during the cooking process.

to avoid this you have some options

make honey oil then combine with butter at very low temps.

water cure the weed to remove as much chlorophyl as possible

cook with a pile of trich's
So Apparenlty your plant material had already lost some chlorophyl, either because harvested late, either water cured, or it just happened to be like that.
When a plant is almost ready to harvest, some strains lose alot of chlorophyl, that's why the purple strains get alot more color in the last week Because the purple color is under the chlorophyl ( sound dumb, i know :D )
