First time Stealth Grow

This will be my first grow ever. Never tried in dirt, indoor, outdoor...nothing.

I am using the Stealth Hydroponic kit that Roseman was so successful with. I understand the limitations with this system so I'm not expecting to produce the best plant, I'm just trying to grow medicine to save my money.

I've personally had zero problems with it yet (except for the drain valve coming loose....it's a piece of crap...replace it or just add your own hole and spigot). I also immedaitely chucked the air pump and erplaced it with a 60 gallon rated pump with two outlets going to two 5" air stones (I choose them because they stay on the bottom with only their own weight...no tie down or extra weight needed).

I did my research HERE as well as a few other places. My set-up is in a Mini Hydro-Hut that is roughly 3'x3' and 6'5" high. I'm using the three bulb CFL fixture from SH and their bulbs. I am using the water pump that came with the system. For ventilation I'm using a 4" Vortex Fan, with a charcoal filter for any odor control. I have a small fan continually blowing on the plants to strenthen them and increase air flow over the leaves. I do not have a ph meter, tds meter, ec meter or any of that fancy stuff, just plain old ph strips.

I use only R.O. water and SH nutrients. I change the rez once a week. I alwas add a few tablespoons of H2O2 every rez change.

Three are from seeds we got on Maui from some very tasty local grown. I call them the Angry Samoans...they are very aggressive.

I also have a White Widow strain and a seed my wife's brother gave us from some medical strain and his name is Kenny so we just call it "Special K". It's struggling a tad...just can't compete with the angry samoans.

I'll post a few oics in a bit.

Ahhhhhh your post is great, i have the SH kit also, and i have got 5 plants(1bb,3bubblicious & 1 skunk) going well, so far (got anther bb on the way). I was starting to regret buying my kit, i am seeing alot of bad post about them tonight. Question when did you start adding the peroxide? By a few do you mean 2 or 3 tbsp to the resovior? How much of the nutes did you add the first time? When was the first time you added nutes? Can we get a pic of the roots? Sorry for all the question your plants just look REALLY healthy. Good Luck!!

I added 1/4 strength nutes when they all showed their third set of leaves. I started adding H2O2 right away...like the first change out, but a very weak solution...1 tablespoon in the 6 gallons.

Every change out since then I have just taken the 3% solution (cheap drug store bought) and tipped a few gurgles into my 5 gallon fresh R.O. I actually gave them a bit of a burn with the nutes and H2O2 in the beginning, but not bad.

I started adding it when I noticed a little layer of growth...slime like. I knew it wasn't bad....yet but I wanted to put a halt on it ASAP.

I'll try and get some pics of the roots later, they are mostly white with a few greenish strands in there. Some of the roots are yellow yellow/brown but nothing unhealthy or any nasty smells. I'm thinking the 7 day rez change out with R.O. water and the H2O2 has helped a load. I've also kept the CFL's very very close. Don't be fooled though, you WILL need to vent out that heat in a small enclosed area...such as a tent. 315 watts of CFL is still 315 watts of power...it generates heat.

Keep us posted, you give all us other n00bs hope...

yeah a lil layer of the brown slime stuff thats how mine started....i have them lights too and i kept them 3 inches above the plants, within 3 days of seeing the brown stuff it was full blown thru out my roots even with 2 rez change out h2o2 distilled water,2nd time i used distilled water with hydroguard sensizyme and superthrive

i had the airpump that came with it but i changed the airstone to a long one as well as a dual output airpump with 2 12 inch airstones

I think I also avoid problems because I'm pumping a large amount of air in the tank. I also top of my rez every day. I don't know, so far so good. I'm keeping an eye on the roots. I more week..... and it will be the only week of full strength nutes for veg, and then I'll go to bloom.

So on Oct 13th, 6 new gallons of R.O. water, a few tablespoons of H2O2, and a full strength Micro and Grow.

On Oct 20th, 6 new gallons of R.O. water, a few tablespoons of H2O2, and full strnegth Micro and BLOOM. Lights to 12 hours, and we will see which ones are females. From everything I've read here, 7-10 days of 12/12 should reveal what they are. After that...males get pulled (if there are any!!!! hahaha I hope there's not one!) and whatever is left just gets it's way with the nutes/rez/light etc etc etc.

Niiiice... Now when the roots start to grow, is it ok for them to be in the water? I was thinking of putting the roots in a net or mesh bag for each indiviual plant. What do you think? I have also read in Roseman post that giving the roots 15 min of drying between water changes gives you some killer growth spirts, have you tried it?

Yes, the roots should be in the water. As soon as the roots hit the water, the plants explode with growth. It sounds like shorty did everything right but somehow it still didn't work......I'm not sure what to say.

And yes, the roots are exposed for a number of minutes while I change rez...probably only a few minutes tho....5-6. Everytime I have changed rez, I notice growth slows...then 24-36 hours later, they again explode. I have no idea what that means...maybe the H2O2 is too strong and slows em for a bit? No idea, but so far have avoided the slime plague. I feel like going to bloom this week, but I haven't ever given them a full does of Micro and VEG. I just wannt see what that does to em.

Guys. hate to break it to you but this system is horrible. The plants WILL die, so while it's not too late, just buy 6" RW cubes, soak em, buy GOOD nutrients like Ionic Grow and Bloom (they're liquid unlike the granulated SH crap you have to dissolve for 3 hours) and grow at an EC of .5 for the first week and pH of 5.8.

Look at my journal and look at the bubbleponics journal, you'll see what you're in for. Return your SH kit right now if you still can, get your money back and spend them on something worthwhile. Growing in RW is super easy, you just dunk the cubes every couple of days into res solution and that's it! No res changes or murky water.

Also make sure you guys have digital water meters, the ph sticks SH sends are absolute crap and do not tell you anything. The only thing i kept from their system are the lights and the socket timer....all of which i could've bought at my local hydro shop.

Good luck :leaf:

i am using this system and it is possible to get good results with it...roseman is proof.. We just have to stick together and figure out the best formula.

Working so far for me too. You really have to pay attention to the plant and watch for sights of stress on the plant, check oyur water and change it weekly its possible to have excellent results like Roseman (as Fostex said). We will tweek it so it works for us!!!

Good Luck, Stealth Hydro Growers!!!
