First time wiring a Ballast - Polarity?

Hi Guys,

I have a 400W Electromagnetic Ballast - I have never had one of these before, having only ever had Digital Ballasts.

I don't know how to wire this properly - can you help, please?

Pretty much, the problem is straight-forward.
I have a Live and Neutral to the lamp. Does the lamp have a Polarity? In other words, do I need to wire the Live to the Centre terminal of the E40 socket, or to the outside? Or does it not matter?

I found out from another place - the live is the centre pin - neutral is outside ...
