~First Timer-Steathmaid Grow~Tips and Tricks Welcome!

Sooooo,

About 2 months ago I stumbled upon this site with the expectation to start growing right away...Welllll, with all the time spent reading and designing as well as gathering not only materials but knowledge aswell, it seems as though I'm about to Finalllllly get underway.

I plan to grow for personal use, this includes my better half who is 100% in on this project with me...Which is nice! were both 23yrs old, and have been smoking dope since we got together 6 years ago. With a recent drought of "Good Pot" in our new area....We have turned to the next best thing...Growing I live in a very good size basement apartment...We have spent the past 2 weeks Painting / Constructing our huge "Rubbermaid" setup..

We will be running 6x CFL's / 42W secured threw the TOP of the Rubbermaid threw a "Vanity" style hookup. still waiting on a light timer...

I have 2 Computer fans running. 1 in the bottom FRONT end as an "Intake" and 1 on the TOP back end as a "Exhaust" which is hooked upto a small "Pipe and Air Filter"

I have already purchased Seeds which should be here in about 2 weeks from AttitudeSeedBank...Northern Lights, White Widow aswell as a few others. I Currently have seeds from a friend which I don't think will work out, but Im gonna try them for "First Time run". They are germinated right now, and have sprouted a little white Tail. Gonna get them in plastic cups tonight and hopfully break soil in a few days.

I Plan to post lots of pictures later this afternoon of the setup thus far...




Question:

2 Coats Black paint - 2 Coats White Paint.....Do you think its necassary to line the Rubbermaids with "Mylar" aswell? It is 100% Light proof atm.

I wrapped my plastic cups with Duct Tap, and put 2/3 smalllll drain holes in the bottom....Is this enough or do I need more holes?/

Kinda a question I have yet to see anyone ask on this board, is it a BAD thing to toke in the same room as your operation? I don't mean like next to the Seedlings/OP, I just mean..like If you grow in a closet, can you blaze outside of it ???

Ill have my pics up in about 2/3 Hrs, but im hoping its not a big deal, as my Rubbermaids will be setup in my "Blaze Room" so to speak....

I'm assuming you're running an aero setup...

I would. This will help reflect the heat and make your res solution warm up slower. Easier to maintain it at 69F if you don't have the heat of the lamp beating down on it. Although with CFLs this doesn't really make much difference, but if you go with MH/HPS, the heat will definitely be an issue. You don't want a sauna in your res.

Net pots would be the best things to use, you need a lot of open areas for roots to escape. Net pots are cheap and you should definitely try using those.

I Originally thought about going the Aero route, but the current setup will be ....

- 4 CFLs 42Watt putting out 2,700 Lumens each
- 2 CFLs 23 Watt Light White bulbs 1,300 Lumens each

These will be run off a "Bathroom Vanity" light fixture bought from Homo Depot for 11.99$CND, Secured to the top of the 3.5 Foot Rubber maid setup.

I Current have 2 Computer fans with a nice light trap tunnel 1 on Intake 1 on Exhaust...Im bloody well dieingggg to post Pictures...G/F is slacking on her way home with the camera >_<

Inside 2 Rubbermaid "Rough Neck" tubs, stacked and secured together...eventually still painting and such atm!

4 Cups will be setup with a good Soil formula I found....(though open to suggestions ) and the Seeds will be plopped in once the Tails get alittle bigger....Like I said, I got some seeds (not much faith) freebies from a friend, so this will be the "First" I guess you could say run....I'm hoping to see some action tonight on the Germinated seeds...Got them onto of the Hot water tank in the furnace room..Read a setup somewhere on the forums here about that!

Could use my question answered about whether or not its cool to "Toke" around your "Op", don't see a big issue so long as your a decent distance from it?

sounds alot like mine.... i have 80 mm pc fans... one intake one exhaust... though i need to add another rubber maid on top.... check out my setup its pretty basic ... i plann on using 6 to 8 cfls wired to a power strip once my plants r sproutd and stuff... get ur girlfriend to post those pics already lol.

Basic setup...2 Roughneck Rubbermaid's stacked and painted 2x Black Coats...2x White Coats...ASWELL as Mylar....100% Light proof, stealth as stealth gets.

Room for 2 more 42/w Bulbs if I split the middle 2 sockets just off the Vanity setup, which I plan to do for Flowering stage. I also have 2 "Clamp on" from Home Depot 42W CFL's which I plan to add any day now around the middle of the 2 Rubbermaids....the ideal plan is to have 10x CFL's all 42W by the time "Shes" flowering...


3 "G13" seeds so Iv been told from my friend are what we are currently working with...were on about week 2.5 / 3! My fan setups / Carbon air filter / Rubbermaids / everything...etc..everything I have learned from RUI.Org over the past 2 Months....i'm proud to now finally get pics up regularly and share my hard work!

As i'm sure you'll have noticed...I am just growing my "Trial" run...free seeds from a friend who grows up North. Anyways....I just got my seeds from Attitude purchased 15..got 6 for Free, Ill post some pics to show what were dealing with.

I purchased female seeds, and the grow I currently have going could be males...who knows?...question is...Should I start the expensive bought female seeds, or just wait till this grow is over with?

I read once you change the light cycle and put them into flowering, the plants will of course "Shoot" in size...is 1' / 12" about a rough estimate to go bye?

My lights are about 1 Foot away from the plants...Should I move them closer? There is a lot of debate about this, and the temperature is very controlled, yet my plants still seem to be burning....




**We are about 3 weeks from seed, and this is the Runt of Runts... either way its still kicking...

I know the plants aren't much...but maybe comments on the setup.

Im PHing my water, and have the lights on 24hrs/7days a week, for the past 3 weeks!

so far I have used ZERO Nutes and they have been transplanted from Beer cups about 1 week ago!

Also....Im thinking of purchasing an "Aerogarden" to get my feet wet into "Hydro" growing. I got a 200$ Canadian Tire gift card for xmas, and frig..dunno what else to buy ...I have a PERFECT spot to grow it in, and its already painted / Mylar'd from where I was "PLaning" to grow.

Dude! Treat that "runt" REALLY well!!! You might wanna check my grow in my signature. In the first couple pages it shows the pics of my "runt". A fuckin strange lil thing which was growin all weird and, no shit, looked identical to yours at the same stage. well,... the good news is my friend, that "runt" or Short n Stubby as I called mine, quickly became tthe best plant out of the 5! Currently it has twice as many buds as the others and is PLASTERED with crystals. The others are too but not like short n stubby. Only a few more weeks til I harvest and I'm 100% sure that it's gonna be the best smoke out of the 5 plants. There's pics of of em all the way thru in my journal.

Haha, Good guess!!...Indeed it is. Any reason you asked? the stem at 2 Weeks was VERY mangled and weird....but now at 3.5 weeks...it is very strong and well-set!...happy its turning out!


On a seperate note...my room smells VERY Dank...even with the DIY-Carbon Filter...
