FlipAPenny 1st grow

For my first grow I started with the germination of 20 seeds. 12 rotted away, 3 seeds cracked but aren't doing anything, 4 seeds haven't cracked and remain to be seeds and 1 seed sprouted! This is a journal of that 1.

As most of the veterans know, I did my homework. Some of you that are reading this are thinking it's about time while others may have a sense of pride like the first day of school for your first born.

I am currently growing the 1 under 4 cfl's at 26 Watts (the equivalent of 400 Watts) and 6500k lumens also known as the day light spectrum. The 1 is inside my closet with a 12 inch ocilating fan blowing. The lights are being ran on an 18/6 schedule. The 1 is currently in soil. I have not used any nutes as the potting soil came with whatever it came with and I know it is way too early to use anything other than water.

I am going to post pics as I go and I ask that anybody with knowledge offer any advice as it is free to give but could be costly to me if not given.

I do plan on running a SoG operation. My hopes are that this 1 is a female and I will take clones. My SoG will be ran using a flood tray system that Al B Fuct and I have been talking about for the last month.

The pics will be updated within the next couple of hours.

So as some of you have noticed (12 have viewed this thread so far) there aren't any pictures posted yet. I am waiting on a camera.

As far as my baby is concerned she (and I say she because I am using positive thinking here) is growing rather slowly. She is starting to grow her third leaf (the first leaf with ridges). There is very little discoloration on one leaf. It almost looks like a leaf birthmark.

I am watering here and there. As long as the dirt is moist I try not to water. The cfl's are right up on the plant, almost touching it.

QUESTION!! Does anyone have any reasons as to why they think my plant is growing rather slow?

I've got a question for experienced growers!

For my watering should I be keeping my plant damp or moist constantly or should I water real good and let it dry out befor I water again?

Hey everybody! Look at my pictures and tell me why you think my baby is growing so slowly. This is something like seven to ten days of growth. I need some help please!

You can also see in the photos that I am using cfl's. The cfl's are right on top of the plant when the plant is in the closet.

looks like you might have planted it to deep maybe? they should be placed on top of loose soil with just a tiny bit covering it and water or maybe you planted it upside down the shoot should have been facing down it was right?

So by me planting it too deep will it not allow the plant to grow or will it just slow the growth down?

and how far is your light off them? get it right on them like a feet or 2 feet away you should be able to feel it as close as possible!

The lights are within an inch to half an inch. The lights are not hot at all so I figure the closer the better.
