Use heavy plastic sheeting though. Preferrably pond liner or something like that. Thin stuff won't last long and you'll flood your floor soon enough.
I prefer to use two of those $10 2x4 under bed storage containers rather than build and the larger deeper ones for resevoirs... rubbermaid etc.

I would actually use plexiglass and silicon mounted on plywood, then put a pond liner on top of it, just to make sure it is durable and will never leak

EDIT: Better yet I would actually get a fiberglass kit that is used for auto and boat repair.. you can get huge sheets of the fiberglass cloth, just build the table, line it with the cloth, apply the resin, and you have a life long durable ebb and flo system
