Flowering grow room lights. 600 or 1000

I have a 10x10x7.5 tent that I will be using for flower. Should I use 600 watts or 1000watts? I was told that it will get too hot with 1000 watt lights and that the height of my tent would make it so it's not ideal to use them. I was thinking of getting either 4 1000 watts or 4 600 watts. What would any of you guys recommend? are the 1000 watts gonna be less efficient and cost a lot more to run? I'm looking to produce a good yield with 20 plants under 4 lights but I'm lost as to choose 600 or 1000 watt lights. Thanks!

ok to help u

think of the light in the maximum usable foot print
1000w is great in 5x5 only good in 6x6
600w is great 4x4 good in 5x5

even with the over lapping factor of the lights
(take 2 flash lights in a dark room hold them at same lvl and move them closer and farther apart from each other ) the grow lights do the same thing

my answer to u is 1000w just for the simple fact in a 10x10 tent the reflective of the tent and over lapping lights u have no dead spots or low lumen area ( all your bud should be dense with like 10 to 5% fluffy stuff on the lowest part of the plant )

just use cooltubes light reflectors then it is a matter of air flow and the air temp of the outside ( 2 ways to do it )
is have the 2 fans going with them sucking 2 tubes each to make the 4 1000ws then they dump into a wye and eject outside
1 way is to have the air in the tent being sucked out
2 way is to have ducting by passing the air in the tent and just passing outside air over the lights (i mean air outside of the tent u never want to send humid air over a hot light so using outside air as in the outdoors is a bad idea )

for u i say do it both ways 1 in the tent sucking the air out helping keep the IR heat it makes down but not to much suction to make the tent concave 1 with ducting to other side of the tent passing outside the tent air over the like

i am back ......mahahahahahaha
had too sorry

Im with Crazy eyes above on the footprints. The 1000w will cover the whole area better. But also consider if you want to fill the whole tent. Sounds like your going to have a lot of plants in there. Depending on your system, how will you water them? If you are crammed packed full in a tent your going to struggle if for example you are hand watering soil or coco, So although 1000ws would maximise your footprint you might want to go with 4x 600w and have a 2ft space on two walls of the tent for moving plants about, getting in there, even harvesting in there should you plan to do so. Also it allows you to see more of the plants up close and personal to find problems if any arise. Do you want to be pulling out all those plants and working in a tight space?
Like I say growing method, medium and watering will help you decide.

I'm gonna have 20 plants in there in 5 gallon pots. I feel like this will
Leave enough space. I'm going to be harvesting 5 plants a month and I haven't decided if I'm gonna grow in coco or if I'm gonna use a recirculating hydro system

sorry

in one of those days hyper for no reason i am on 25 hours awake now now

what part did i lose yah

Were you saying to run a fan with ducting through the lights and then have another separate fan sucking new air into the tent with another fan blowing out the air in the tent?

Ah I get ya, the way I read it I thought you were going for 20 plants per light!

It depends on how long you veg, and the size of the plants. I use a 1000 watt in a 5 x 5 x7 tent and it works beautifully with 9 plants in 15 gallon pots. I use a blumat system for water. I grow in my own version of super soil. Hope that helps.

well here the lights i am taking about are called cooltubes

that will explain it

i am saying u should do
1 like that vented room.......the 2 lights plus a carbon filter
1 like a sealed room ......the 2 lights ducting and a fan (but the air is not being pulled from in the tent but outside the tent )

The 600 watt HPS are the most efficient HIDs but COBs and quantum boards are obsoleting them very quickly. There are a lot of used HPS lights available now dirt cheap. @REALSTYLES was giving one away yesterday, just pay shipping.

obsoleting hid grow lights? do you think cobs have been in operation, in professional marijuana production, long enough to know ?

I recall the UFO buyers saying the very same thing way back

1000 for a 5' x 5' space.

600 really 3.5' x 3.5' space in my opinion.

4 1000's in air cooled reflectors is the standard lighting for a 10'x 10' tent. But you do have to plan for at least 2 feet between the lights and flowers. Maybe more.

Do you think in the 80's they had diy guys selling ripped apart and re purposed HPS street lamps?

I know some went missing when I was a kid. We didn't know why in young teens.

my parents basement was amuck with those street lamps, misc flouro's too, they even had a party room with a working four way HUGE stop light..... in the 70's. they grew, seemed
happy with their results, smelled up the neighborhood, they didnt care.

those lamps being replaced with led's??//////here we go, history repeats itself again maybe lol

and an ac unit in the room, wicked good exhaust stink socks, four of them, and some inside/outside the tent maybe too. I did this and geesh...I built a steel building outdoors and moved the grow. too much for me to manage in a 10x10, with 4 1k lights. but wow, what a blast

I kind of assumed if someone is willing to pay for all that gear that they could air condition the room the tent is in.

But yeah his set up is kind of like if you have to ask........
