Thinking more about this I think 2 5x10's with inline cool tubes vented out to a "Y" exhaust would be way more manageable to cool and work with. And you could do more with them.

COBs and quantum boards are not UFOs. Check the led section right here on RIU. Also , look at some sponsors here. Just have @Growmau5 stuff on YouTube. Good info before you decide. Either way, have fun!

Everybody saying quantum boards or COBs are calling for serious $$$. Quantum boards cover 2sqft in a 10x10 tent. That is 50 boards x $150=$7,500 + rigging and time to put it together (4500W). That is a chunk to put up front. Also in three years it will be eclipsed by something else. I think they are great for a small tent but hard to scale up until costs drop.

4 1000's with proper ventilation and AC will cover perfectly!

We did a lot of testing 4-5 years back and ended up getting rid of all of our 1000's for 600's. The 600's are the most efficient, they penetrate the deepest because of less heat and you can almost toss up two 600's for the power cost of one 1000. When you're looking at gram per what in HID's, we found 600's were the best option and have never looked back.

I run one Matrix Solistek 1000W ballast (@1100W boost) with a Y splitter to 2 -600W bulbs.

Sounds like you need to design an entire system from scratch. Is this your first serious grow?

Hit the help button and understand the entry parameters first.

Then you need to decide how you are going to exhaust the heat and smell, which others have already helped you with.

Then you need to decide how you're going to control humidity.

Then you need to decide if you want to hand tend individual pots or one reservoir.

I think I'm gonna go with 600s the 10x10x7.5 tent is inside of a 13x13x8 room. I need to figure out how to cool this room so I think I'm gonna use a portable air conditioner. I could use a window unit, but smell is an issue and it's a room in using inside of a trailer in the trailer park so the neighbors are close. I'm going to use a few carbon filters but I'm thinking about cutting a hole on the floor to vent the warm air using the portable air conditioner. Do you think this will do the trick?

If you already have the portable AC then you can McGuyver a filter on the hot air exit so you're not stinking up the neighborhood. If you plan on buying one get a dual hose model that keeps all the cold air and stink in the tent.

I don't have the portable ac unit yet. Are they less effective than a window unit?

I figured that you'd be running the AC in the tent. If you're cooling the room that the tent is in then a window unit is best. Then you can run one big charcoal filter to vent the tent and not worry about the smell bothering the neighbors.

Yeah I wouldn't have the ac unit in the tent. A guy on another thread said that I need a 36000 btu mini split for the room.. wouldn't that be too much though? I'm trying to make everything as efficient as possible

A window mounted AC is going to be cheaper and easier to install. If it gets hella hot where you live then 36,000BTU is OK. Kinda depends on how well the space is insulated. Always better to have some headroom in the system. But your room is only 13x13 so you could likely get away with a 24,000BTU unit since you're going to be venting heat outside through your charcoal filter.

Hi J. What bulbs do you use in your Matrix? I was told by SolisTek that bulbs other than theirs won't run properly in the Matrix ballast. Is this just a ploy to get me to buy their bulbs? Are you getting good results with the bulbs you use?

I am running cheap ass bulbs Apollo from Amazon. Work great. I dont have a way to quantify other than my plants look great.
