flowering soil consequences?

hey guys, i had a question. I have a plant in about it's 9th week of flowering. And the buds still aren't as big as they should be (hairs are turning brown already) and looked to me like it could use a couple extra nodes. Could this be due to compact dirt? i used really cheap stuff and its really clumpy and hard.

thanks in advance

compacted dirt is a pain, yes. also, when hairs start going red/brown, you usually have two to three weeks left. this is the last part of flower, when the plants really start packing on the pounds (metaphorically speaking). when the calyxes look like they're holding seeds, they're ready.

Now is the time for no more ferts and to start flushing.. I had that happen , combination of events..They are getting ready to harvest, get your magnifier and start checking colours...

Clear= not done
cloudy=done
amber= overdone

false. amber does not mean they are over done... this is the worst thing you can say to a first time grower. DO NOT CHOP THEM EARLY.....

i chopped mine about 3 weeks early the first time when my trichs were 10%amber and 50% cloudy... NOT DONE. i got 3zips when i could have got 5+ just by waiting another 2-3 weeks.

although at 9 weeks they have to be getting close.

post some pics and what strain are you growing?

I don't know the strain, it was bagseed. I do know it's something decent because i don't buy schwag (no offense to schwag tokers). I'll get some pics up, today is the first time i'm feeding it nutrients.

and your complaining why? That cola looks perfect. and its huge. you should put a lighter next to it in a pic.

i would get a microscope and check out the trichs to see when you need to start flushing.

hey everyone, well i decided to finally cut it down. It weighed out to about 35 grams after 3 days of drying. I was wondering, should it be smelling before it dries out? or does it begin to smell when it's ready?
