flowering time

hey, for those of you who are flowering or have flowered, how many hours(on/off) did you give your plants before going into the 12/12 phase, or did you guys just jump straight into 12/12? (by the way my plants are 2ft.+ tall at 1month and 2weeks and im using a 400W HPS light for flowering.) P.S.- Happy 420!

well since i did 24 hours of light we just jumped straight into it. you just need a timer. im not sure what other ppl might have done.

I've always done what you do/did cc420. I go directly from 24/0 to 12/12.

Hint: Before flowering, take the plants out of the space, close it up, turn the light off... climb in there and see if there are ANY light leaks. if there are..seal them immediately.

Then go 12/12 and hang on....

I was thinking, if you start flowering and give it like 18/6 or 16/8 for half of the flowering time THEN jump into the 12/12 for the rest will that increase the yield of your plants? o yeah, one more stupid question, when you go into 12/12 will it kill your plant before it can truely produce as much bud as it can?

No, it will decrease your yield substantially. 18/6..even 16/8 are veg schedules, not flowering. At 16/8 your plant may not flower at all..it's gonna depend on the strain. If it does flower..it will be SLOW to develop and won't ever get with it fully until you go down to 12/12 or so.

And..it may hermie on ya if you screw with it.

12/12 regime will not kill your plant. It will bud PROFUSELY until it's finished. You could then re-veg it and flower it a second time..but yields are low and it takes a lot of time so cycling into another set of plants is the best way to go. Did you take clones?

I'm on my thrid grow and I tried doing everything different this time so I could compare to the other two times.
This grow, i tried going from 24/7 to 22/2 for a day, then 20/4 for THE NEXT day, then 18/6, 16/8, 14/10, then 12/12. I had read somewhere else to do it that way.
MAN WHAT A WASTE OF 6 DAYS! NEVER AGAIN.
I WILL ALWAYS GO FROM 24/7 TO 12/12 IN ONE DAY FROM NOW ON.

to speed that up go 24 - 72 hrs total darkness then 12/12 I think it sppeds things up 5 days

What if you wanted to take a clone after you have harvested?
Could you just clip buds and save plant?
I wonder if you could put back into veg just for clones?
Would this make the clones yield lower than taking before flower?


Oh yeah, purp you need get at least 12 hours of dark for flowering.

does it shock the plant at all when you first switch the cycle??? like for a few days?

no but a switch from mh to hps will start the elongation process. please do not place your plant in darkness for a day just revert from 18-12 in one day. if you shock the light cycle of the plant for days 24-72 without light you plant will get weak and droopy. even light bulb failures will affect the growth cycle, make sure if you use 2 rooms the on time is the same. you dont want to move the starting time of cycles one you start you grow. IE on 6 am of 12 am veg. so flower on 6 am off 6 pm

changing light cycles didn't shock mine.
