For Veg what is better 18/6 or 24 Hours?

Just curious what is your all's opinion on lighting I have heard some people leaving there lights on 24 hours which is what i am doing atm, Is there a difference or am I just wasting 8 hours of electric?

I'm a supporter of 24/0. I can understand 18/6 if you're running MH since its going to up your bills. But CFLs, which use so little electricity, seem to not have raised my bills much at all.

Seedlings and cuttings under floros = 24/0.

Rooted cuttings and stout seedlings = 18/6.

hey thanks guys for all the input, I had one other question I noticed my Lumnatek Electric ballast was pretty hot, I have a 120Volt hooked up to my 400 watt light, Is it dangerous if I have that on my floor/carpet?

If it is hot, then put something heat proof under it, dont burn your floor or carpet.

I use some spare bit of the kitchen worktop left over from last time we did up the kitchen, and it work a treat for under the balllast, nice and thick and heatproof, just wantever you have offhand, be creative
