force flowering early question

My friend wants to weed out the males on her crop. Is there any problem with turning back the light before they are fully mature, seeing which are girls, and then turning back the lights to 24 hours to reach the desired height?

yes you can but it would be allot faster to just veg them until they are ready to flower then pull the males as it will take the plants about 2 to 3 weeks to switch back to veg and begin growing ,after sexing them the way you described.

hmmm....well....there are 3 plants....one is sorta gaining on the others and is forcing the light to be pulled further away from the others (CFL). Should the taller one be topped so its more even with the others, or just keep the light adjusted to the tallest plant? Without any knowledge of plant sexing, perhaps this taller one is a male....little bastard :)

Raise the shorter pots up to the light at the correct distance from the tallest plant. Cd cases work good for this just place something the pot can sit on with out fear of it tipping over.

You can also place a brown paper bag over one branch on each plant and give it only half of the light cycle uncovered, the other half of the light cycle it needs covered, that branch, that is covered will show sex and you can tell what sex your plant is with out switching the whole plant into veg.
