Fox farms is good stuff... i know a few people that use it and it does wonders... thanks for starting a thread about it... heard you gotta add some peratile in the mix too (something to think about)... but i agree strictly organic is the way to go... the plant will do what it should do and adding a buch of stuff to try to "enhance" it never made since to me... rep up to you :bigjoint:

Wow.... Anhedonia....

We should hang. I bet you'd make great company. Don't know what I said to piss you off so i'll just address it all for the hell of it.

Alls I said is that every respectable source I have ever spoken with in my 3 years of working in different dispensaries in the greater los angeles area has said the exact same thing: Jason King's books are pretty inaccurate at best. I personally don't have an opinion.

I can understand how you would make this a personal attack, considering the fact that you are running all over this thread like a fuckin' jesus freak with his bible, thumpin' the cannabible with every reference you make.....

Chill. I am (at least I thought I was) saying the exact same thing as you...

I am an advocate of organic, and grow organic myself.

All I'm saying is that I thought there was somebody starting this thread to learn if foxfarms would work for them. Somehow this turned into a flamewar between organic nazis and defensive chem users.

Alls I'm sayin' is....

Shut up,
I know you are but what am I,
and so is your mom

I have heard quite a consensus across this entire forum that Fox Farm ferts tend to not be 100% organic.

i myself use ocean forest with 20-30% perlite and fertilize with homemade teas from stuff that I know is organic. Bat guano, Kelp meal, Worm castings, and molasses. I am seeing some fine tuning necessary to be able to tell what the plant wants.

I feel like I am taking enough of a leap of faith by assuming that the soil is put together well enough to merit spending 15.00 a cubic foot... Versus me mixing by hand and dealing with the trial and error of mixing a soil that is too hot... too weak.... Too moist.... Too dry....

It is definitely quite a terminal mistake to mix soil that is too moisture absorbent. I put too much worm castings into a mix that I made last run and I dealt with every major side effect of overwatering.

So to me it is totally worth it to buy something that is already portioned out by way of slow release ammendments and drainage.

But I am a self absorbed workaholic of a person typically who kind of has to be able to say that he played a meaningful role in the process of growing.... Such as mixing up the fertilizer

So essentially I have to be able to make something... It might as well be something that doesn't hurt me quite so bad as slight yellowing if I underfertilize. I have found these guys right in saying that it is pretty hard to burn with organic nutes so long as you work from the ground up.

I recommend finding out a good combination of tea amendments or find a pre mixed tea that is guaranteed organic and go with that. May not be the best way, but I know that alot of reputable people on this forum would back that... Ohsogreen in particular.

Then pay attention to what your plant needs. The guys that I have gotten advice from who have been growing organic for around 20 years always swear by just keeping the plant alive. The ones who breed always talk about how each plant responds to different treatment in different ways.

I think it's kind of personalizing to your plants to research a recipe that works for you and then spend a grow or two finding out what your plant needs in addition.

Ocean forest is definitely proving to be a trustworthy product and I have not really felt compelled to go with foxfarms' other lines. Not to say that they don't work, but I can definitely say that I have a system that works for me just as well.

Again... Definitely not stating this as even the best way... Just a way that works....

Hope this helps to answer your question

Welllll gentlemen,

I've did my homework, on these forums absorbing knowledge.
My goal is to get the best AND biggest yields possible with any given strain..

Given that I ordered:
400 watt HPS. cool-tube also
2'8x2'8x5'3 Grow tent
FOX FARM
Grow Big
Big Bloom
Tiger Bloom

Think thats the names, but i do know for sure that Grow Big is a must..Tiger bloom = fat buds..and big bloom has all the potassium plants thrive off of. :hump:

Opinions?

Hi I eat organic foods and I eat about 5 lbs of hemp seeds a month and about 1 gallon of hemp milk for 1 year now and I never felt better in my life. If you are growing yourself and not going organic you should just buy it off the street. Why would you want to grow with chems and smoke it. You must never had real home grown organic weed. Smoke what you want they are your lungs.

hey i know that grow big and tiger bloom are "organic" based...but wtf does that mean? how organic are they, and how much chemicals are in them? i know they arent organic, but in terms of other popular chemical ferts, are they more or less chemical?

Im not understanding why there is such a big argument? I believe Dr. Chronic said it best a couple pages ago by saying flushing/drying/curing will give you no chemical taste. I thought that was the point of flushing, to get rid of all the chems and shit you don't want in your smoke. So if you do that, doesn't it get rid of the chems so it won't hurt your babies? I understand if people want to use just organic stuff throughout their grow, but if all your worried is about the chem leftover, isn't most of it gone after you flush/dry/cure?

Just because you dont taste it, doesnt mean its not there and cant affect you. flushing might remove the majority of detectable toxins, but its common sense that if a plant is fed chemicals for 95% of its life, the final two weeks will hardly matter at all. just like if you take an 85 year old man who has smoked and drank his whole life, then for two years you sober him up. if you rolled that old sack of bones up in a joint and lit it, chances are it wouldn't be very good for you...:fire:

the cannabible recommends flushing the final 4 weeks and it still wont burn clean or reach its ultimate taste potential but you'll have some good weed.

As far as organic based, it means its not organic. All my organic nutes have the OMRI listed logo on the bottle.

yea, i know its not organic. thats already been established. what im wondering is, compared to other popular non-organic ferts, are they more or less toxic? im pretty sure they arent the harshest chem nutes on the market. im also curious what they mean when they say that its "organic based"...

I agree...

I got on here to read about people thoughts on FF nutes...NOt get a lecture on organics and inorganics. My sweetie has partaken in both types and per him if you flush good they both taste great.

From a personal perspective with a minor in Health Nutrition I can safely and accurately state that, not all chemicals are bad for you...and not all organic's are good for you.
WTheck anyhow...it is a personal choice...lol

Gotta butt in here again!!!

Just because something is organic does not mean that it does not have chemicals in it. Any kind of fertilizer organic based or not has a chemical composition to it.( this is simple science) Just because something is not organic does not mean it is toxic or a toxin.

If your concerned read the labels. But here is a thought!!! Mixing Bat poop which is the waste material, undigestable toxic crap from a bat that has been eating bugs that have been pummeled with toxins to try and kill them may not be any healthier for you than a few chemically produced nutes. Or how bout adding mercury laden fish product with pcp's to your grow. Are you sure your going healthier??? I would seriously question this... Just because it is an organic fertilizer does not mean it is chemical free and very likely you will not know what chemical's are in your organic fertilizer.

There is no chemical free soil left on this planet. Are you sure the earth worm castings you use are chemical free...I am sure they are not, actually positive they are not.

Now, I am not dogging going organic and am certainly thinking about it, but one thing I am positive about is that if I go organic that does not mean I am going chem or toxin free. It is simply a scientific impossibility!!!

serious. not to bash organic growers, i think you guys are really smart and are at least making an attempt to better your weed and the soil, but like WU said, who knows what bats eat, what cows eat, and where that bone meal comes from!! if ground up bones from a sad cow that lived in a 3 foot by 6 foot cage its whole life and was fed grass treated with pesticides, chemical ferts, antibiotics, and hormones then is your weed any less chemical then someone who uses fox farms? im new to this organics stuff, and im honestly curious to know. not trying to be a dick if thats what anyone thinks. im still waiting for someone to answer my other questions as well...
