i have had a problem with them due to over watering the best solution beside over watering is to use 2 oz of safer inscetisidal soap per gallon of water flush these
guys with it and put 2 inches of perlite, hydroton or sand over top layer of plants keeps gnats from laying eggs of wet surface mesquito dunks work
good they take a little time to work

K going to buy the dunks. Gonna pretend I didn't hear that root aphid comment from earlier and try not to think of that possibility for now.

these things are much more than a pain in the ass when they infest your roots. These things kill, if in soil use nematodes or simply let shit dry out real good, the adults are an easy kill but the larvae are the ones that do the damage, although the adults will stick to your buds. if in hydro get some shit with cedar oil in it and forget the mosquito dunks.

also a layer of diatomaceous earth on top of your soil will certainly keep the little bastards out, they're cut and bleed to death trying to get thru to lay egg in your precious roots. fuck them.

mosquito dunks take longer than cedar oil and truthfully the dunks did me no good whatsoever in hydro, the cedar oil would have, I just waited it out basically killing any adults and all the larvae I could, used heavy h2o2, sm90 , nothing really slowed them down, next time I'm going for that shit with cedar oil in it first thing. In the end my roots just ripped apart .

just saying, i was treating for gnats for 4 weeks before i found out i had RA. the longer you wait, the more damage they will do with either bug. and both will kill your yields by 50-90%
all you have to do is look at the rootball. why waste money treating something till you know forsure. BTI wont do anythign to RAs

with the dunks i crush them up mash these down to a powder half dunk per gallon of water
let sit over night them water plant with them but the best way to prvent these is always
have a top layer of sand, perlite,or hydroton to keep these from getting larvae beneth the surface

two of my plants are hurting bad, I did neem oil mix last night , soaked the plants real good soon as light went out, spent about an hour cleaning the room , today i do not see anything flying around. I treated the veg area to, Will keep an update on how it worked. I see some say do not use hot shots if getting close to harvest, but i have no choice as they put a hurtting on the crop. If it comes down to it I will just make bubble hash out of the worst plants. Been about a month and have tried sticky traps, honey in a glass with soapy water ontop, I put sand ontop and still the lil fuckers seem to keep growing in numbers. All so looked like i ended up with a few mites, as some of the leaves have spots and dying off. I found what looks like eggs under the leaves, but could not find any mites. Wish I had a good camra to get a picture of the lil pricks. I been looking around and have not found anything that looks like the ones that are messing me up. If i can find a picturte I will post it.....OhMy
