Galaξ

"Galaxy " .
That's the new device I've designed for Astirgrows .
Not completely finished yet ,but soon it will .

Galaξ is a L.E.D. C.O.B. grow lighting system comprising of two units.
The lighting unit (panel) and the power supply unit (power box ) .
The two units are interconnected with a 3 meters long cable ( 7x 0,75 mm )
and aviation grade connectors are used .

---------------------- The Lighting Unit ----------------------------------------------
The panel has a 1050 Aluminium alloy heat sink (size: 400 x 160 x 40 mm ,weight: ~4 kg )
and two 140mm Phanteks fans .Total noise levels are below 22 dB .
The six COBs used are the 7th generation Vero 29 , 3000°K ,80Ra at 1400 mA .
The cover of the panel is made ( proudly in Hellas ) of high carbon steel and is powder coated with a glossy white finish .
Fan grills are made by ebmpapst .
All other details are made of A2 stainless steel .
No Lenses or reflectors are used, just bare COBS .

Here's couple of pics from the panel (still under construction) .

That's all for now ,folks.

Cheers.

This is the most practical design I've seen from you. No dimmers? No onset brightness? No gauges? etc
Well,it's going to have a toggle switch to power On /Off one of the rows of three cobs.
And you haven't seen the inside of the power box,yet ...
Which version of the Vero is that? B/C/D?
D version .The most efficient of all .
( BTW ,it seems that a lot of folks inside here think that the C version is the most efficient ...
Well ,it seems that at Bridgelux ,the Vero 29 design team has another opinion .
Myself ,also . )

Would you care to elaborate? Die count and luminous efficacy do not support your claim....
1 ) Die count is the same for all three types of Vero 29 .The difference is how the dies are configured .
How many dies are connected in series -forming a "row " and then how many rows are connected in parallel .

2) Say we drive a Vero 29 C at ~ 79,65 Watt ...
That means a Vf = 67,5 Volt and a If = 1,18.
Then it's luminous output is at 69% of the nominal @25°C.
18 385 * 0,69 = 12 685 lm
So ...Luminous efficacy = 12 685 lm / 79,65 Watt = 159,25 lm /Watt

Check now the Vero 29 D at 79 Watt ...

Sure the C type has a lower thermal resistance junction to case .
But the way type D is configured ,allows for higher " driver efficiency / cost " ratios
and a safer operation (lower operating voltages ).

Cheers.

not seeing it. regardless of what case temp you operate them at, C is more efficient at all wattages. unless youre going strictly by the cost difference alone of C vs B or D

3 separate strings of veros, 2 fans, ground wire.....What you using for a power cable?

Love that someone (stoked it's you) is designing a remotely driven prefab.

Also interested in how the 2 fans work in tandem....was under the impression that multiple fans blowing in opposite directions down the same channels was a no-no

Either way clean looking luminaire even if it's a bit less Lambo and bit more rice-rocket! ;-)

...can i post my pov?...
...:clap::clap::clap: nice lamp...
...external power box... i imagine its an client petition.... normally you dont like external box with larges wires...
...but i like it...i live in hot zone... then preferible power box out of the tent...

......but i like external power box with more things... but yeah i imagine all lamp its by client demand...

....no control for temp on lamp.... .. no control of fans with high temp or low temp with total off for lamp... its a risk... but hey its only my pov....

....but yeah i like your new design too... i prefer more complex... dimming ...security hard for temp... arduino...etc

...you know me a bit...

...i wish you the best my bro... i dont have too much time for internet actually... no free wifi on mi zone...

...maybe i have more luck on next months... but i dude...

And a quick update on the Galaξ panel from Astir Grows (Hellas) .

A Galaξ ( galaxy ) panel on it's first test run ,in a 1,2 x1,2 m ( 4'x4' ) tent .
Plants are 2x Pineapple Kush and 2x Critical Kush ,both by Barney's Farm .
They have been vegging for 7 weeks at 18/6 .
Now they are into their 3rd week of flowering .

Cheers
