I had a couple phenos of purple types that were mostly green, but frostier, that I kept for a bit. I had trouble finding one that had color, flavor, and strength. Seems like I could only get two out of three. Norstar's Purple Mayhem I had to give away - dark colors, but too much smell even with a carbon filter. He still breeds a few things with that purp male, it is from Gooey genetics instead of GDP. Might be an interesting addition to your purple chuck.
yes its just a whim really chasing the purple dream like Prince...lol...though a lot of folk have a penchant for it, just a novelty really, i remember yrs ago im not sure what the strain was named but a certain type of bud was for sale in my area, it was a very light green with amazingly bright orange hairs!...as soon as anyone saw it they would buy it straight up, it just looked so fantastic...yet reality checked in with only very average potency...so bag appeal certainly plays a part, but it must not only be a looker but have the other needed qualities to be the allrounder topshelf gear, appreciate the tip with Purple Mayhem too, ive got a pretty reasonable selection now for the purp chuck;
GGG - Mendobreath
Thugpug - Pugsbreath - these 4 as possible main studs since they display strong purp features
" '' - Meatbreath
IHG - OGKB x Secret Weapon

Pirates Emerald Triangle - Purple Urkle x PCK
Mosca - Purple Urkle x Old Time Moonshine
TGA - Querkle
TGA - Plushberry
ACE - Pakistan Chitral Kush
IHG - Velvet Pie
IHG - Purple Voodoo Monster
IHG - Hulkamaniac
IHG - Purple Animal Kush
DVG - Grandpas Breath
De Sjarmaan - Purple Widow
Hazeman - Fat Purple
Melvanetics - Buckeye Purple
+ various purp pheno's plucked from -
GDP x C99
Raspberry Kush x C99

am especially liking the Buckeye Purple's specs...

Yield Large

Sex Regular

Photoperiod | Autoflowering Photoperiod

Indoor | Outdoor Indoor/Outdoor

Flowering Time 7-8 Weeks

Plant Height Medium

Genetics Gorilla Grape x Grand Daddy Purple

in that she is a large yielding early finisher! she may be used as a main stud too, at the end of the day im always looking to have the shorter flower time types, the 70-100 day strains are just too long & increase the chances of negative events happening

You have quite a collection of purple to work with, and a lot of diversity. At the very least, testing them all will be fun, and you might stumble onto some killer purple.

The breeder for buckeye purp was on the firestax forum pretty often. People who have grown it are rabid for drops cuz they love the taste and bag appeal. But she said that the dark purple strains have more of an anti inflammatory effect - so they help with muscle pain and arthritis more than green phenos. That was her goal with working that cross.

yes im hoping a few will come out as planned, good to hear the Buckeye has got strong medicinal effects too, i think if someone throws enough pollen with those types a person will get lucky & snag the desired results...not out of skill but out of just sheer luck lol, thats why i chuck in those numbers, i cant spend the years with proper breeding methods cos i only get one pollination window per year, so if i chuck eg 10 different types usually it will average out at 40-50% will be what im looking for

I like witchy poo looks nice. The yield isn't to good is it? Nice colors too.
cheers man, the yield is actually better than most of the IHG strains going now from what i can see, this OGKB pheno is like a solid totem pole type with a few smallish branches, i will post more overall pics soon...
heres 2 pics, yes its not a large yielder but the buds are rock hard nuggets & if allowed to grow into a bigger plant i think the yield could possibly be substantial...as it is its all an unknown quantity with how the pollination will take either?

lower 2 pics - Trichome Jungle Ginger Bread day 46 approx 18" high, plant is going ok, nice though generic terpines present, was expecting a bit more from this type considering its lineage...of course final judgement reserved after smoke test, pollinated via Cannarado Barney Rubble

lower 3 pics - GGG Diamonds & Dust single female day 46 approx 3' high, my first ever GGG & have no idea what she is lol, nice terpines and bud formation, looking forward to sampling her after harvest!

heres an example of a highly resinous strain that does not make the grade, initially this pollen chuck(Alphakronik Jackpot Royale x Mosca C99) was looking to be a winner, though after extensive testing its final score hovers around the 6-7 out of 10...compared to 8-9 of both the GDP x C99 & Raspberry Kush x C99, the Jackpot Royale x C99 looks in every way a great strain with vigorous growth, plentiful frost, solid bud formation + great terpines...yet final analysis of actual power in its sauce finds it lacking, so thats the last time it will be grown here...lifes to short

Your cookie strains look a lot healthier than the normal indoor grows of them. If you get even a couple cookie leaners you should have a decent size stash. And you should end up.with enough sugar trim from these frostier strains to make a bunch of great hash. Are any of the crosses throwing off interesting smells?

yes they are throwing out some real nice terpines, but im not good at explaining smells unless they are really outstanding in one way or another, both the CV GSCM & Tiramisu Cookies have a sort of similar heavy fruity syrupy grapeish/berry odour...really nice, but the Barney Rubble Girl(FPOG x Orange Cookies) has a super tangy lime/lemon citrus fizz odour, im waiting for the Barney Rubble to mature some more then i will try to get some proper close up pics of its trichs, they seem to glisten like diamonds, possibly they are a very large glands on top of the capitate stalk? ive never seen that effect before with any previous strain...im really hoping the Barney Rubble pollen takes with the types its outcrossed with cos im thinking its a rare type & also its discontinued as well

Raspberry Kush x C99 approx 14" high, theres solid purp genes lurking inside some of these pheno's, this batch was planted late in outdoors season to see how large they would get, wont bother again to plant at that time as not enough size was reached
IMG_6613.JPG

on other news...another herm has just been found with this strain, looks like a lot of upskirt viewing will be necessary with this chuck, not particularly keen on that chore...eventually as the chucked seedstock grows a person will edge away from the types with this trait, hence another great reason to throw more pollen around!
