Gnats and a funky smell

Ivebeen in flower now for 37 days. I'm in happy frog soil, temp is around 70-80 and RH is between 35-50% i water every 3-5 days the strain is super glue(afghani×northernlights) i don't have anything to check PH, i keep a fan on when i am home, but the other day i watered a little sooner than usual. I left and came home, opened the box and had a strong mildew funky smell. The gnats didnt appear until a couple days after and it's only been a couple here and there. I let the soil dry pretty good then flushed with hydro peroxide to get rid of any larvae if any. I used the old potato slice trick, left them for 12 hours and found nothing on the slices. Is it my weed that smells funky? The soil does smell like earth and dirt but not old laundry. Root rot?

the gnats are definitely from overwatering, you know how to get rid of them.
watch you leaf tips, both old and new growth, if you start to see any strange, sudden damage, that's usually a good sign of root problems.
i'd just keep adding a little h2o2 to your water every time just to be safe, its good for your roots if you don't over do it, and it keeps anything from growing in your soil , except your plant, of course. use 15 ml per gallon of the 3% stuff from the store. i use 29%, at 3 ml per gallon

I've read almost every forum and thread out there about the same problem. Now as far as the leaves, i did notice a couple bigger fan leaves on the bottom started to yellow, and had some brown spots on them. I had stoped adding nutrients 2 feeds before this happened because i didnt have the right flowering nutes. It is working it's way up top but only on bigger fan leaves, lossing they're color and leave tips curling down. As far as othet smaller sugar leaves they are all nice and dark. Couple leaves up top starting to turn purple but i don't think it's relevant to my issue. I did add nutes my last feed and the couple leaves i left on the bottom did return they're color after a day of feeding, but bigger fan still discoloring. Thanks for the response, I'll keep adding a little hydro peroxide every watering, would it be bad to cut down how much i water? So I'm not overwatering? Thanks for the response.

well, if you are over watering, it would be a good idea not to. i water by the weight of my containers, but a lot of people will stick their finger in and wait till it feels good and dry at least down to the second knuckle.
the fading is normal, and so is the purpling. i wouldn't worry about that. some of the leaf drop and curling could be from over watering.
i'd say let them dry out a little more between each watering, keep feeding them, watch for them to start to swell in a couple of weeks. feed them good through the swell, then start tapering off, drop them down to 250-300 ppm by the end.
least thats what i do...

I also water by the weight. Which i do when the air pot is really light. But it was once before this happened i watered to early. Thanks for the advice ill keep on chugging and maybe post and updated pic here in a couple weeks.
