She smoked real good! Real potent and heady. I bet they'd love the out of doors in Australia. Biggest buds I ever grew. I'm sure they'd be monsters under some real tropical, subtropical sun.
I've never done organic, except in the vegetable garden, I'd really like to give it a go though.
So I don't have an opinion which is better, but I know you can use coco like other hydroponic mediums and have stellar results, without having to worry about crop losses from pump failure or power outages.

Yeah it seem like it had some vigor to her got a few of those now. I wanted to try a few of the Nigerian crosses mainly from Top Dawg but there gone now. I always reuse my coco no matter what fertilizers were used.

I actually like coco mixed with long fiber peat, coco chips & kitty litter. Hated it at 1st because I was lazy & didnt flush it so roots did not grow well. After I properly flushed the mix it was popping with white roots. The kitty litter I use helps water retention greatly! It wicks water well so with my blumats the plants drink what they need. I have plants vegging in 5 gals that I haven’t had to water in 2 weeks since I got them setup with a water emitter.

Plain coco is cool but when the roots get big you have to water a lot more. It helps to keep the surface mulched so the tops doesnt dry out & you water unevenly.

Switched back to all coco & ran into those Mag issues you spoke of. I never check the Ph & my other plants in the coco mix are fine. I’ll have to start checkin my pH more as im wanting to try a dwc in the near future anyways. Thanks!

Hey guys, sorry to randomly jump into the thread....but I have a question:

As a soil grower that has been in soil for the past ten years, I am well aware of what size I need per stage in soil...but in coco it seems you can get away with a MUCH MUCH smaller pot in every stage...(2-3 foot plants in solo cups)...Yes, I know the smaller the pot, the more frequent I will have to water, but with a res, it takes no time at all, (drain to waste).

So, I know you can rock tiny cups in veg/mid veg....but in FLOWER, what do you think would be the smallest you can flower out (a fully vegged and trained plant) in? 3 gal? 1 gal? Tinier?

depends on your goal. if you're trying to do a sog, you could probably get away with half gallon pots. you can get away with smaller pots in coco, but you're giving up some of the advantages by doing so. one thing thats the same in coco and soil, the bigger the roots, the bigger the fruits. you can grow plants in 1 gallon pots, and get decent results, but the same plant in a 5 gallon pot will yield a lot more.
being able to do something doesn't necessarily make it a good idea.

    Great points.

My main goal in coco is yield. Well, a large yield with the least amount of media/plants possible. 1 plant per 4x4. Plants are well trained, (60-100 tops)

So, maybe like a 3-5 gal?

i'd go with at least a 5 for that size plant, or you'll be watering twice a day.
i use 10 gallon hempy buckets, 60% perlite, 20% pro-mix, 20% coco, and get pretty good results.

Thanks guys! Gonna rock a 5 this coming round. Probably 70% coco, 30% perlite.

after three years of growing in coco, i can tell you, you want your ph to center around 6.1. if you ph to 5.8 you're going to get lockouts.

Use breathable containers. Air/smart pot type. I make by own with drilled out buckets or simply clothes hampers or milk crates lined with weedblock fabric like you put under mulch in a flower bed, they work great even with straight coco. Super cheap.

Im expirimenting right now with a method called Passive Plant Killer method. Its a terrible name as its not passive nor does it kill plants. It really takes you closer to hydroponics abd was cheap to build. 10 gallon low flat tote filled with nutes, plant container has a throat piece from a sink off the bottom, its covered in screen/weedblick fabric as you make sure it too is filled with coco (or coco blend or other fast breathing medium) thats put on the container of nutes. So plant can wick nutes if need be, a cheap tiny pump on timer gives container 1 minute of nute mix out of the lower container every 2 hours... some guys do amazing stuff with it and its freeing as your not running watering can constantly.

Id definetly airate them still, just drill the shit out of em put the weed block i the bucket... i do this from beer cup on up makes transplant a brease and stress free for her as they come out easy and you dont tear any roots up as they dont twist around tbe bucket.
