These 2 books seem to keep coming up could some1 give me a brief
description of these books. I might go pick 1 up...

Thanks for the replys so far...
they're hefty books... ones like 800 pages, the others over 1000 if i remember correctly...

the fountainhead was the first book to ever really change my life... then i read atlas shrugged... wow...

they both outline the author's (ayn rand) philosophical beliefs, known as Objectivism

From Wikipedia...
The Fountainhead examines the life of an individualistic young architect, Howard Roark, who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision by pandering to the prevailing taste in building design. The book was rejected by twelve publishers before a young editor, Archibald Ogden, at the Bobbs-Merrill Company publishing house wired to the head office, "If this is not the book for you, then I am not the editor for you." Despite generally negative reviews from the contemporary media, the book gained a following by word of mouth and sold hundreds of thousands of copies. The Fountainhead was made into a Hollywood film in 1949, with Gary Cooper in the lead role of Howard Roark, and a screenplay by Rand herself.

and atlas shrugged is about all the worlds smart people disappearing from the general public... its much too complicated for my overly stoned self to describe right now... and wiki doens't have a nice brief desc. like it does for the fountainhead...

i'd go with the fountainhead firt... then atlas shrugged... then a few other of her books... haha

I like to read James Patterson novels, they are my favorite. And all kinds of other fiction like thriller, suspense, cops and robbers, scifi, love stories. I also read alot of non-fiction too, self help, health, gardening etc. Magazines and all. I read everything.
i have read one or two james patterson novels lately. i will have to look up the names in my bedroom. i like fiction a lot and sometimes autobiographys on interesting people.

I also enjoy King's books....
My top King novels in order of preference:

The Stand
Lisey's Story
Bag of Bones
Salem's Lot
Cell
Pet Semetary
Skeleton Crew----the Mist is in this collection.
The Shining
The Dark Tower series
Dreamcatcher
Insomnia

Gygax1974, HP Lovecraft kicks creepy ass...At the Mountains of Madness and The Case of Charles Dexter Ward...great stuff!!!
Straubs Ghost Story is great, it also made a good movie unlike... most of Kings novels!
I wanna read I Am Legend...

Hey Tokes, I gotta check out Kite Runner one of these days...soon...
Cuckoos nest is outstanding....Kesey also wrote the most excellent Sometimes a Great Notion, I liked it better than Cuckoos.....
Into the Wild is a standout, did you read Into Thin Air?
i also read dreamcatcher and pet cemetary. did steven king write the fog? i have read maybe a couple of others but can't remember right now.

I read like crazy and I like it all, especially King, he gets a bad name cuase he's a hack but I like him a lot. Salem's Lot was good, The Stabd was good, have you read IT yet? The Shining?

Ok books I read recently...
King- Tommyknockers -sci fi horror novel about a town that finds a strange object in the woods that does strange things to them.

Richard Matheson- I Am Legend read this a million times. Last man on earth scenario, one twist is all the dead suffer from a diesease like vampirism. A man his will to survive and the struggle to remain sane, awesome read and I can tell you the upcoming movie is not really close to the book...leave it to Hollywood to ruin a good story

Lovecraft- A compilation of short stories, sorry forget the title. But it's Lovecraft, if you like dark, grim, and weird go for it.

Bentley Little- The Return- This guy is sick period, fucked up shit.

Book of Buds Vol. 1-3 You should know this one already.

Peter Straub- Ghost Story- awesome book about, well the title says it all.

Steve King- The Mist- another one I have read a lot over the years, just read again for the movie...still one of my favorites..." Smething in the mist"

I'm in a horror phase right now but oh well it's all good.
i just bought the tommyknockers movie for 5 bucks at wal-mart. pretty good but cheesey acting lol. i guess thats why it was 5 bucks. something wicked this way comes was an awesome book when i was younger. i know it was a well known author but i cant remember now. also steven king's storm of the century as a movie or mini-series was good. i guess i have always been into the dark stuff, but nothing too dark.

Marijuana related book. Grass Roots by Albert Goldman. Kind of an old book, borrowed the copy from the library when I was a kid and never took it back. Read it at least 20 times. You might be able to find a copy at your local library. He started by smoking pot and worked his way up to smuggling weed from Columbia. Very interesting and exciting once you get into it. PLEASE check it out! Tells the story of dope smuggling in the 70's. A good read.

Other writers. Anything by my beloved Hunter S. Thompson (R.I.P.) and Jack Kerouac aswell.
