Lots of islands are very low. Those guys don't have anywhere to go. South Florida could go back to New York, Havana, etc, etc.
Agreed. We're going to see millions of climate refugees in the coming decades.

Three feet of sea level rise and most of Bangladesh will just flat disappear...

That's 150 million people looking for someplace dry to sleep. I'm not thinking that's going to happen without 'a little friction'.

I'm sure India and China will take them in. No history of bad blood in that part of the world.

Good morning. At 1040 it's raining, 80F with 83% humidity. Forecast high/low of 82/73F with 100% chance of rain.

Let me try again. I hate it when I have to work at work.

At 1055 it's raining, 78F with 88% humidity. Looks like it is going to be an all day kind of rain. One person has came by, and two others called to check on a room for today. I have a full house though. Couldn't help them out. Planning outside events during dog days is a roll of the dice.

We took a direct hit down here...just lost a few limbs off the poinciana trees and the power was out for a couple of hours. I have one lonesome lttle auto outside. She's probably drowning.i
Hey Cindy. I'm terrible at looking at any other weather forecast other than my own. I didn't even know about the TD until this morning. Glad you guys got off with minimal damage.

Yikes! Glad things didn't go any worse for you!

The summer I lived in SoFla, four hurricanes hit the state- three of which hit my apartment. Fortunately they were all glancing blows but it was still a mess for much of the season.

We get a few of these tropical storms every year, but they don't bother me too much. I'm from Arkansas originally, and tornadoes plow thru there almost daily. I lost my youngest brother and his wife a few years ago when the shipping container they had taken refuge in blew into a lake and drowned them. At least here we get plenty of warning, and here where we live there has only been one major hurricane in the last 57 years. When I look at the weather reports from around the country, I really feel pretty safe...at least until global warming causes the sea to rise. I'm on the "ridge" of the island and I'm 13ft above sea level.

A warm day in Larry Land. Only in the 80's with low humidity, but I got out early anyway to do what had to be done. After breakfast I laid on the couch and took a nap.

At 1720 it's sunny, 87F with 46% humidity. Forecast high/low of 88/64F with 10% chance of rain. The TD down state must be pulling the cooler dry air in. I wished I was camping tonight. I can't remember the last time it was in the 60's.

I lived in Little Rock for several years and on at least 3 separate occasions a tornado touched down and did damage within a mile of my house. That fact figured prominently in my decision to leave the state, lol

Island? 13ft isn't quite high enough to guarantee you'll stay dry in a storm surge situation. But it's a lot higher than most residents of Miami!

Yes, I'm grateful for every inch of elevation that I have!

We finally got some rain from the TD. I hiked yesterday, and it started sprinkling 15 minutes away from camp. It was nice enough to wait till I was inside the tent to really pour. I used the opportunity to take a camp shower. Once the thunderstorm had passed, it didn't rain again until 0730 this morning. By then I was packed up and on the trail. My pack did get a little wet, but I had a trash bag liner, so my stuff stayed dry.

It has rained all day though. A drizzle most of the time. At 1745 it's raining, 76F with 98% humidity. Forecast high/low is 81/73F with 90% chance of rain. My 10 day forecast has two days of thunderstorms and 8 days of chance of a thunderstorm. Guess what? I have sprouts just up, searching for the sun. Maybe this time it won't rain for 21 days straight.

I could almost cut and paste yesterday's post. At 0910 it's raining, 75F with 98% humidity. Forecast high/low of 83/72F with 80% chance or rain. Webbing between toes starting to come in good.
