we got a few, but for the most part, they leave all of the flowers alone..
They don't mess with the flowers here either.lol. just digging every where. I live trapped like twenty of them (1 at a time) and dropped them off miles away. My women won't let me use the bb gun. Lol.
But I'm still dealing with a small colony of them. Burying 1/4 inch mesh fence around the home and garage had helped keeping them out this year..0725161359b.jpgMy Setigerums.

our dog chases them away for the most part.. we have a few brave ones that will come up on the porch while she's out there sleeping, and run right in front of her.. it's pretty funny to watch honestly.. we've also got one squirrel who's brave as well.. he's been nesting in one tree in the front yard since he was a baby, so he's pretty much been raised around here.. she'll get up and chase it though when the mood hits her.. we'll have 100 birds in the front yard, and she can't be bothered with them for the most part, but when that squirrel gets a bit too close to the bird food, she'll run and chase it up the tree.. i'm always wondering wtf she's gonna do if she ever catches the thing, lol..
last week we were sitting out on the porch, watching all of the birds we feed eating, and chilling in the front yard.. suddenly, out of no where, they all took of, flying in every which direction.. scared the living shit out of me.. i look up, and see a few feathers flying, and out of the corner of my eye see a big bird of prey flying off.. couldn't tell if it got one of the finches or not, but i'd think it did.. didn't really get a good look at it, but came in and googled what i did see of it, which was grey stripes across it's tail feathers, and think i narrowed it down to some sort of a falcon.. wasn't very big, well, not comared to hawks, which i see all of the time.. was pretty cool to see, never did see the thing swoop in to grab what ever it grabbed for lunch.. felt bad about feeding the smaller birds just to feed the bigger ones though..

The red tails are enormous out here and scare the poop out my chickens
yeah, a few years ago, we were having work done in the yard.. pretty much had a small bobcat in there ripping up all of the old flower beds, cleaning up a bunch of old crap, getting rid of tons of sumac we have always growing, so on and so on...
well, it was a hectic day for the small animals that call our yard home for sure, when out of no where, this big ass red tailed hawk swoops down, grabs a squirrel, and flies off with the poor thing.. was crazy watching it fly off with a squirrel between it's talons..
i was fishing at a local water hole a few years ago, and was watching another red tailed hawk circling above, over the lake, when all of a sudden, the thing dive bombs, goes under the water, and a few seconds later i see it flying off with a fish.. one of the coolest things i've seen tbh.
we have small pond in the yard as well, and last year we got home and our neighbor told us that we had a huge blue heron hanging out on our roof. a day or two later we came home and the thing was knee deep in the fish pond.. we late the dog out and she chased it up into a big oak tree, and she must have stood jumping up at this big ass bird that was about 100 feet up in the tree for a good 5 minutes before it flew away.. it returned a few more times last year, but knock on wood, well, i don't even wanna say it an jinx myself, lol..
