CLW is covering the company recommended 4'x8' grow area for 3 lights.
That's 32sqft. Which gives 37.5 W per Sqft.
The timber kit is 5'x5' grow area
That's 25sqft. Which gives 32 W per Sqft

Based upon the average difference in led efficiencies and the CLW higher Watts per Sqft;

CLW is delivering approximately 19% more light to the canopy per Sqft than the COBs

May I ask what was the price of the 16 COB kit and the price of 3 xCLW?

CLW is a full spectrum light. It's white based with 450 and 660 added.
I was going based off the chart @CannaDaddy posted, which shows a targeted spectrum of blue and red. Is that chart incorrect?

By the way most blurple lights have white LEDs too the ones i used to use had white/blue/red diodes but that doesn't make the light any less blurple.

@ yodaweed I think the graph CannaDaddy posted is correct.

It is very close to an all out Blurple spectrum...

Think about it this way, what is white light composed of? Aha Red and Blue for starters...

So if you add in a chunk of Blue mono's and chunk of Red mono's to the fixture, then average the total wavelengths that are blue/red/other...

...you will probably find on a good day that it put's out around 35% blue 50% red and 15% in other wavelengths e.g it is very Blurple lol

Personally I am loving the test because we will get to see the difference between a Balanced white spectrum vs a near Blurple spectrum...

Having grown canna under old Blurple lights I can think back to how bad they were, these lights so far sure look like they are a definite improvement, but I would be shocked if they beat the COB. Sure will be interesting to see the end results:D

I grew 2x under blurple lights before I made my own and they always looked burned... a strange burned.

Not sure what you're referencing as "light". The CLWs are much lower in PPFD.

Through timber each 4 cob kit is $399. I think retail of the CLWs are like $700.

Not sure what you are using to measure with, but I am working it out from radiant watts, the monos are more efficient at putting out light per watt of energy.

the clw sphere data is 1.55, i think timber is 1.8ish?

If the CLW is using Olson SSL 120 470nm then Typical Radiant efficiency is 69%

Not sure what white chip the CLW is using, nor the quality of the sphere and hardware/software used to perform the test, but just because the data comes from a Sphere test it does not necessarily mean it is accurate see below:

Didn't the guy from chilled Led produce a report in which they "flash" tested/measured CXB chip, hardly real world is it?

The 1.55 vs 1.8 figure you quoted, at this point seems waaaaay off to me, as in CLW figure seems low and not at all in line with the radiant efficiency of the red and blue mono's,

Maybe its white chips are cheap and nasty low output crap. But based upon the fact the fixture is using high parts it is highly doubtful it will be using a low end white, so I am not buying the 1.55 figure at all.

all the chips are osram ssl. i can count them but i think there is 108 diodes - they push em pretty hard to get the 400W output. i turn mine down anyway as they are too intense, so im def a bit above their rated eff. :)

Please if you could;);

I would be interested to know the following;

How many diodes are blue?
How many diodes are red?
How many diodes are white?
And specifically which white, SSL diode the CLW uses?

i cant really tell because there are some red monos on the white band so my spectrometer cant isolate them. id guess about 3000k, heres the white band, imagine the red peak isnt there, the phosphor hump relative to blue peak is about 2:1:

i think they call them "warm white" which is usually reserved for 2700-3000K white leds (as opposed to cool white = 5000K and has a higher blue peak than phosphor peak. i dont think theres any blue diodes on the white band so that blue peak would all be from the white leds

Cheers for the links, with all 3 bands it looks the same as the one I posted earlier in the the thread thanks for confirming:wink:

So with all 3 bands running it is pretty close to blurple, if this is how BMAGS9 is running it during flowering then my money is on the COB, I wait with baited breath to see the end results lol!

1 of my My overpriced osram Zelion HL lights lost its red in a single panel. Wtf; disappointed

All the lights however are still covering more and doing better than the 1000w hps these replaces

Sorry to hear about you osram Zelion... Right in the middle of your grow:x.

I had never heard of them until now, but when you mentioned overpriced I had to go check em out... oooouch.... yeah I see what you mean fixture does not look like it covers a lot of area?

Surely they will be under manufacturer warranty though, so you should be able to get a replacement once your grow has finished:peace:
