growing experiment

Im a personal grower who likes to experiment. results are what they are im not trying to produce the best all the time..

that being said. its time I did try to grow some high quality grass for myself, I use to live where the grass was almost free 15 bucks an 1/8th and it wasn't bad either. but now to find something that even gets me high cost 50 bucks for an 1/8th.. now the money is no question.. its the reason i moved to most northern parts of Canada.. but still i dont like paying people for shit products.. hell if its really good i might even over pay you.

I have grown for many years now starting growing outside in the woods behind my parents when i was a kid. later moving indoors when i grew up. I have always used HPS for my main grows and at one time I was commercial. but that is now days past. I grow only for myself and very close friends who happen to be around when i have stock. I started just growing in pc cases and CFL lights.. the results were fair enough for me to always have something going on the side with CFL..hps lights are a hassle when in tight spaces.

but now the times have changed and so must the grower. I now have an LED light some say is like an HPS watt for watt.. it was made by a forum member (supraSpl) and better than any crap you can buy from a website..we all know the worlds best cars are made in someones garage, not a factory.

that being said. regardless of his efforts and my budget ( trust me this probably is the best light for the money ever made) Watt per$ vs efficiency . I will most likely need some kind of CFL system to supplement the two CXAs i Have. this is where you come in.. how much more cfl wattage should I add to my grow? also what colour temp and should i go lots of little ones or a few big ones? the cxas i believe are about 3000K so possibly 6000K cfls to mix in?

How many CFLS really depends on how many plants you are going to be running at one time. I'd recommend using the CFls to fill in any dark spots where the LED light isn't penetrating so a bunch of 100 watt equivalent bulbs as side lighting might be best for what you're going for. As a ball park figure, about a few CFLs per plant should be plenty of supplementation. Some diversity in color temp is always good and bulbs around 6000k will keep nodes a little closer together and give you a shorter, bushier plant than if you were to only use light that is around 3000k.

i may have been convinced to use LED screw in bulbs. but i havent seen anything that screams use this for growing in my eyes

Couldn't help you there, those are foreign to me but a lot of people swear by them. You could always set up a little "experiment" with one plant getting majority cfl bulb light plus your main LEDs and another getting mostly led bulb light plus your LEDs. Obviously not a very controlled experiment but it could help you make a decision for the long run
