Growing hops with hydroponics

um hops are vines so it would be kinda hard to grow in a hydro system but i geusss you could buy some chicken wire fence and make a box typ support out of it

I have been a grower for a few years and this subject is very interesting to me. I grow hydro bud, and use a trellis over my plants to support and spread foilage evenly in the light. This is how I plan on growing my hops also, but so many of you grow in such small unusual places and containers that it would be up to your room and system. I use a pipe system and place a 4 to 5 ft wide trellis, about 20" over my plants. Then as they grow I spread them part and attach them with plant ties, the way I want them to grow. Like with grapes. While they are small, you just use a longer piece of plant tie to attach them to the trellis. Until they are big enough to wrap around trellis on their own. I know the one guy told up to get chicken wire but dont do that. Go to home depot and buy plant trellis and ties in the outdoor garden area. If you use a trellis like this all you flowers will be easy to reach and check without any damage to you or the flower. Also remember your trellis can run up straight but, as it grows it is harder to spread and get light to all parts of the plant.Thats why I go across the tops of the plants because as they spread you can add more lights over the trellis. You can grow together as long as you start with enough empty space, and that will help the wallet too. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hop vines can grow over 30 ft long, if you have a huge area I would say go for it. Since they really thrive outdoors in almost every region tho, I would just leave it to the sun and soil to grow them outside.

Yep, no reason to be stealthy with hops.

My grandfather would run a cable from the edge of the roof secured straight down to the ground below for every hops plant and the hops would happily spring up the wire every year.
