Really want to run something purple this spring. Mix it up a bit. I need a strain that will do well or even thrive in direct sun with temps in the 85-95 degree range.

This past summer one of the strains that did well for me was 100% Indica Afghan. These friggin plants were beasts. Very hot and dry summer in the northeast for 2016. They were loving low 90's and would go 3-4 days without water, letting the pots get nice and light/dry. (One of my early mistakes in learning to grow was over watering, I've come to believe, in general, that cannabis can grow very well with little water or just the right amount)

Can anyone recommend a purple strain for me that would perform well in these conditions? Would really appreciate it.

Anything that's as close to pure indica as possible with a parent plant that's from the middle East region will do best...as far as ones that get purple...I'm not the best help...sorry bro...Pakistan valley is a great strain that grows well in extreme heat and is very drought resistant. And at night if temps get cool enough it will exhibit some purple hues.

So I should probably stick to to higher % Indica strains? The thing about my outdoor set up is that it does get a lot of sun. Thinking maybe a granddaddy purp or some thing like. I've seen pics of strains where the whole plant is so deep purple it's almost black. God those are so beautiful, so exotic looking. I think it would be a lot of fun to try and grow something like that.

A sativa would do great in high sun I'm sure but in my experience indica's tend to have the best drought resistance. Its not like Sativa's have none tho!

I've grown it indoors more times than I can count. I've only grown it outside once...keep an eye on your snack cabinet because that strain will give you the munchies like you would not believe. Lol. It needs to be topped to get it to bush out and yield well but it does yield pretty solid when properly topped a few times. You'll definitely want support for your colas. Doesn't grow super tall but it gets long dense, corn stalk style nugs. If youre in a super wet area there might be potential for bud mold...I never had that issue...but nugs that grow like that can be prone...just use a cover in the rain or go shake off your nugs after a rain.

It's a hardy strain. I've grown it for three years. Everytime we have a problem in a room, all the other strains will be looking like godawful shit, but the Pakistan valley will still be looking totally healthy and fine.

Here you go...I grew this strain outdoors this past summer, direct southern exposure with 80-90* temps.

"The Black" old-school Indica out of BC bud depot.
